eat drink sleep open

Lately my days are filled with Open--and almost nothing else. I wake up worrying about something or other (last night: incredibly bizarre science fiction anxiety dreams). Then I spend the first hour sorting through emails, adding dates to my calendar, answering as best as I can. Then I go to the studio and prepare for meetings or rehearsals, assuming I don't have errands to run first. Errands are just about always production related at this point. When I'm done with all that, it's dinner time and everybody seems busy or away from their phones (or avoiding me??), so I eat alone, come home and put on a movie or two while I work on finalizing the script (and keeping up on Livejournal and Scrabulous), before I fall asleep and start it all over.

Big production meeting today. Rehearsals tonight. If you count socializing with Katie, I've talked to all my main actors at least once now. We're on the same page about things, I think. It feels good. My big hope is that we can cover blocking and pacing on location, that time will allow for that.

Keeping myself busy in the time between things. Watching movies, reading books. Alternating Kobo Abe's Secret Rendezvous and Conversations With Pinter. Right now I'm watching Altman's Thieves Like Us. It's not what I expected, but I'm liking it so far. Altman's characters always think their jokes are much funnier than they are. Laughter is contagious, but I usually find myself laughing at the parts where the characters don't realize they're being funny. Either I'm into deadpan humor, or I like laughing at people more than with them.

Can't it be both?
