What up everyone? Congratulations to the twelve of you that made it last night, you all deserved it. Make all of us rejects proud.
As much as I tried to prepare myself for last night's results, I think you could tell by my face that things were off. It's hard to keep on a trademark smile when you know you are about to be cut. When Simon was talking about the one guy he knew was going home (like it was some sort of a secret), I did the first thing that came to mind and raised my hand. As soon as Seacrest finally read that stupid card, I felt relieved. I was more than happy for Scott, he's really talented. Nikko and I went backstage and cracked some jokes about the whole thing. He's a class act, that guy. Instead of pimping out the fact that his dad was Ozzie Smith (if for some crazy reason you don't know, google it) he stepped as far away from it as he could. Changed his name and shit, that to me is dedication to the music. Of course the second we went backstage he started talking about how he should have brought a lucky baseball glove to each performance so he could have had a backstory, just jokes though, you know? We had to lighten the mood with something. The girls (Amanda, Janay who are both amazing) needed a little cheering up too.
It was a chill night though, we sucked it up and partied like we were heading in the top twelve with everyone else. In a way, we are. I know I'll be at the live shows and supporting whoever the fateful day of elimination's takes victim. I'm sure we'll be pros at living the reject lifestyle by then.
This sounds so completely typical but the show helped me learn a lot about myself. Some people are singers, you know? That's their thing. It's what they are good at and what they want to do forever. I love singing, but you know what? I love soccer too. I love dancing. I love teaching. I love anything to do with hip hop, in my case it's aka USHER. I can't picture myself just picking one of them, and I think that's why I am okay with everything. I have my hip hop group back home (ReMix) that I can't wait to go back to. I want to finish off college and get my degree so I can teach all those kids their multiplication tables. Oh I gotta thank my girl Mikalah for helping me figure out that one. I started tutoring her as a deal, but eventually it was something that was just a lot of fun for me (even when the music videos weren't playing). So that means you can put best math student ever on your resume next to American Idol Finalist (Winner? we'll find out).
Thanks to all the contestants (even the ones that feel the need to blow kisses to get DA LADIEZ), you guys are gonna do great. Thanks Kimberly too, and USHER!!!!!!!!! Lunch break is up so see you later playas. Crazy slew of interviews are going on today and tomorrow, but I'll try to be around.
