Being an adult was hard. Sure, the perks of it were nice. Travis liked having his own flat and the privacy that came along with it. He liked that he could have stacked boxes of comic books in his office and body could say a word about it. It was nice to have a giant flat screen television in his living room with every game system available taking up the main wall rather than boring pieces of art. The beer and whiskey in the fridge, taking up the majority of the shelf space and leaving very little room for things like actual food, also helped him cope with his advancing age.
But Travis just couldn't get used to Mondays. It was always so difficult tearing himself away from The Amanda and the Australian beach cottage he preferred on Sunday night. Saturday night were all well and good, possibly Travis's favorite night of the week. Then the day would dip into Sunday and the hours would crawl by, teasing him with the reminder of London and the cold and his office. It was very stressful thinking about Monday.
When his clock hit five o'clock on Monday, Travis was out of there. He couldn't have made it out of the office any faster even if he Apparated his flat. Though, he knew that would probably be frowned upon. After all, it was considered good for office morale to mingle and make pleasant conversation with his coworkers. They smiled and nodded at him as he walked down the hall, most of their office doors open or cubicles decorated for the holiday season, heads popping up as they finished their end of the day reports. Travis put on his friendliest smile as he wrapped his scarf around his neck, one foot in front of the other.
It felt colder now, somehow, since he'd been back from the beach house. The only thing keeping him going was his long standing dinner date with Ginny. A cold drink, a very good friend, and a big meal was at the top of his list as far as priorities. He swung a right at the corner and walked a few blocks before finally reaching their meeting spot. Travis pulled out his pack of cigarettes and his lighter, relieved he had remembered it today. Most days it was easy enough to use his wand but today he was meeting Ginny at a more public place, muggles everywhere. He took a long drag, letting it calm him down and he hoped he finished before Ginny arrived. She never did approve of his habit.
