Yes, i learnt it in school for about 8 years, plus 2 semesters in university, but i think that in all that time i havent waste my time three years, i hate teachers and the languages system here. The best im doing know is watching some american tv shows in english and reading a lot in livejournal. :)

I took french in high school, i hate it, but i want to learn italian in a future, its really similar to spanish.
