Crack!bunny, Jack-musings, and crossovers

Crack!bunny, free to a good home, and musings on Jack (oh, like that's a surprise.)

Crack!bunny first:

During the time that Jack's hanging around the Powell Estate, taking the slow path and watching Rose grow up, he runs into Time Agent !Jack, who has been assigned to keep an eye on Rose and make sure she doesn't meet up with--or at least travel with--the Doctor. Our Jack retcons the heck out of !Jack, and sends him packing back to the Agency.

Why doesn't Jack use !Jack's Time Agent technology to get away from Earth, or at least the 21st century?

The Vortex Manipulator only carries one person--at least until the Doctor fiddles with it. *handwave* Besides, now Jack has to keep an even closer eye on Rose to make sure no other Time Agents come after her.

Why wouldn't someone realize immediately, when !Jack shows up with no memories, that the mission hasn't been accomplished?

Our Jack would have filed a false report before sending !Jack back, of course. He would also have planted enough misdirection in !Jack's head and his computer files to make !Jack believe that it was the Time Agency that stole his memories, no matter how much they deny it. And done the same thing, in the opposite direction, to make the Time Agency distrust !Jack.

Why does the Time Agency want to stop Rose from travelling with the Doctor?

For heaven's sake, do I have to do EVERYTHING? Maybe the little Rose/Doctor timebabies evolve into the mortal enemies of the Time Agency. Maybe the Time Agency is as annoyed by S2 as I was. I dunno. Make something up.

Thinking about that made me wonder--what if Jack did cross timelines with his younger self, at whatever point? Would Jack try to change his own timeline so that he never travelled with the Doctor, never got abandoned and stuck on the slow path? Would he give up the friendships he'd formed and the better man he became in order to avoid the fate of being made immortal?

And if that's the choice he'd make sometime up to the end of Torchwood, would his choice change after realizing how his immortality had saved the world in "End of Days"?

What about realizing how he'd saved the Doctor--probably countless times--while at the end of the universe and on the "Valiant"? (Okay, and other people too.)

*************************************

And because I've been talking about "Babylon 5" with rustydog, naturally I started thinking about Jack on B5.

You've got these people wandering around asking everyone random questions starting with "W". Jack would fit right in.

Shadow: What do you want?
Vorlon: Who are you?
Lorien: Why are you here?
Jack: Wanna "dance"?

And of course the various responses to this question:

Sinclair: I don't know! I told you, I can't remember!

Ivanova: Oh, absolutely! We'll do it human-style, though.

Londo: My shoes are too tight, but it does not matter, because I have forgotten how to dance.

G'Kar: You have basic psi-training? And you can get pregnant? Veeeery interesting. Let us discuss this further in my quarters...

Delenn: Minbari have not this concept of "dancing". We will fast for a week and meditate upon it. Then we will perform a ten-hour ritual about the importance of proper etiquette during the meditation. Then...hey, where are you going?

Zathras: Zathras very honored. No one ask Zathras this question for...well, ever. Zathras will be happy to serve. But you are Not The One. Just so you know.

Sheridan: GET THE HELL OUT OF MY GALAXY!

Kosh: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

jack, i r not srs, b5
