I had totally forgotten this! Just ran across this quote on TV Tropes (not linking, be grateful): "The Discworld story Thud! features the mad artist Methodia Rascal...who spent the last few years of his life thinking he was being pursued by a giant chicken."

Presumably an invisible giant chicken, since no one else could see it. From space, do you think?
