My brother and I both got Nintendo DSs for Christmas, and some games to share between us (which is pretty standard in our family- even when only one of us has a system, we still share games. To date the only game that's ever been in duplicate was Pokemon... and to the sticklers among the nerdy, we each had different colors.). These games are Crosswords, Assassin's Creed (still in the plastic ^^;;), and Yoshi's Island.
The last couple days have been occupied with Crosswords, but my five-year-old buddy/nephew (honorary), Tristan, came over, and wanted to play. So he played Yoshi's Island on my DS, and darn if he wasn't pretty decent at it, in spite of not being a man for instructions. After a while he got bored and we played Uno, and if it weren't for me drawing half the deck and all the Draw Four cards, he'd have kicked my ass... as it was, he'd have won if he hadn't called off the game midway through the second shuffle. Then I borrowed my brother's DS, and Tristan and I played with the Pictochat- he sat upstairs, I sat downstairs, and we scribbled to one another- literally, in his case, though he did write me some nice letters, one number, a couple faces, and draw me a fish.
Today I played Yoshi's Island. It's very cute. And I realized I'd been playing it for about seven hours, with only a two- or three-hour cumulative break to do other things, like eat, and laugh out loud at Terry Pratchett's Jingo.
I'm not very good at the precision jumping, so I have to try a lot. Good thing I am really good at finding and nailing every damn 1up in most games (through the LONG practice of absolute necessity X3).
What I'm trying to say is that all that repetitive trying and bouncing leads to some serious wiggling of the beautifully-rendered screen, and I've given myself eyestrain and made myself motion-sick
Woo. ^^;;;
