2010 Bataan Memorial Death March

Mar 21, 2010 20:00

[Back dated to the time I finished.]

Sunday, I complete the 21st running of the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, NM.  This commemorates the original Bataan Death March which occurred in April, 1942.  Over 5700 participated this year.  There are two courses, 26.2 and 15 miles.  The longer course includes a climb of 1500 feet over 7 miles.  This is all given back by the finish.  I participated in the long course in the Military Heavy category.  This means I covered the 26.2 miles in my Air Force utility uniform and carried a 40 pound backpack.  I finished in 11:58:38.

I have a longer report (with pictures) here.
