Last night I changed the ringtone on my phone to the Imperial March from Star Wars. I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of Star Wars, certainly not to the extent that some people are. Yeah, I've seen the movies many times over the years, I know the pop-culture references, but beyond that, it's not a part of my everyday life. I just thought it was a cool ringtone. It made me laugh.
I'm trying to talk myself into buying a laptop. I'm trying to tell myself it will make my life easier, especially since my desktop is mighty old - it doesn't have a CD burner--and won't last forever, and it will be nice to be portable, but the expense is holding me up. It's the same issue that has always held me up. I don't really need one. It's not a necessity yet, and I made it through this semester of full time school without one, so I might as well keep moving through life without one, right? Then there's the Vista issue. It's not comptible with the online system they use at school, so I'd have to do everything in terms of online connections through my desktop anyway. I have a friend who bought the new superslim MacBook and he really likes it, but I'm not willing to dive into Mac.
On the other hand, if I buy it now, I can call it an educational expense. There are two Dells I'm looking at. They're pretty close in terms of power, but one is $300 more, a pound lighter and a 13 inch instead of 14 inch screen. The things cost so much anyway, it might be worth the extra $300 for a smaller, lighter piece of equipment...of course, as soon as I buy it, the price will go down and quality will go up.
