For those who don't know, last year my job moved to Newport, Oregon, and I was forced to choose between being 3000 miles away from my kids or being unemployed and unable to provide for them. I was fortunate though that immediately after Free Spirit I found a job a block away from my old one and was able to remain in Maryland.
I have my job here in Silver Spring, Maryland due to a man named Mark. He is the division chief here and if it was not for him taking an interest in me I would be 3000 miles from my kids right now.
Thursday night he was driving his motorcycle home from work when he got into an accident. Yesterday was the first time he breathed on his own since the accident but today it was announced he has brain damage and the diagnosis is he will probably not be returning to work.
Please keep positive thoughts for Mark and for his wife and family. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him and will need all the help he can get.
And on a personal note, if you are thankful for someone, tell them. I didn't remember to thank him before the accident for his part in hiring me and I am sorry for that.
