Office conversation.

C: *in regards to a big meeting tomorrow with most of the staff re: manuals* "I'm nervous about tomorrow."
Me: "Why?"
C: "Do you get scared if.. for example, if you must teach something new, like ILETS or TOEFL?"
Me: "Nope."
C: "Oh. Because you are an native English speaker, so it's easy for you."
Me: "Nah. It's 'cause aside from assuming it's having to do with teaching the English language, I don't know what ILETS is."
C: *laughs* "That is a good way. To not be scared. What do they call a big fear... a phobia? Do you have a phobia?"
Me: "If I have a phobia of something, I don't know what it is. I've never met it, and unless there's a reason, it doesn't make sense to me to fear what I don't know."
C:  "Oh. I like your attitude. It's a good way to be - you are very brave then."
Me: "Actually, I think it's more like confounded ignorance."
C: "What do you mean?"
Me: "Some people fear the unknown. I, much like our illustrious caveman monkey-type ancestors from eons ago must have, peer at it quizzically and poke it with a stick."

....which actually explains quite a bit....
