back in the US

I am back home in the US, in Asheville!

very very short summary of the last 2 months

went to Italy and stayed with Gianluca for about a month. he continues to be absolutely fabulous and I had a great time

went to herrang, worked for a week, and then ran into an open window (thick sharp wooden corner) and gave myself an extremely serious concussion that meant i couldnt do anything really but lay down for about a week. gianluca then visited for a week which was great even though i didnt have all my marbles back from the injury. then he left and i braved walking into the ballroom on blues night and wasnt even dancing and some big guy somehow managed to hit me in the head with his elbow and knock me unconcious and gave me another concussion. so now, 3 weeks later, and i still am not anywhere near back to normal. cant make memories so well anymore, bah. also kind of concerned because i start grad school for medical physics in exactly 3 weeks and it can take months for this kind of injury to heal

anyways decided to return to Italy, because being at herrang very much injured for 3 weeks and not dancing hardly a lick is sort of like one of the circles of hell. so went back to italy and gianluca took me to a landfill (haha! how romantic. but for his work. he is an environmental engineer) and then we ended up in Slovenia at a fancy bioenergy resort for a few days which was great. and now I can speak Italian (sometimes proficient and often not) and understand it about 80% of the time.

then went to venice for a few hours and started my 38 hour journey home. ack.

so now I am back in asheville kind of dazed and confused. and i have found i dont really understand americans when they talk english anymore. i am so used to foreigners speaking english now i cant understand americans, they talk to fast and slur too much.

feel free to call! just speak slowly
