I didn't realize till today that I haven't been on LJ for quite a while (except to post notes about donations to remind myself when it comes time to do taxes). Guess I haven't had much of interest to write. I think maybe I will turn this into my knitting notes place. None of my LJ friends are knitters, but that's ok. So to start...
When I decided to accept my current job and move to Florida, I purged my closet and dresser of most of my sweaters and kept only the lightweight ones that I might be able to wear in Florida. And the alpaca one that I had just knit. Now, I'm planning a cruise in Alaska in early September. Gee, I sure wish I hadn't been so quick to get rid of those sweaters! Oh well, I'm a knitter, so I guess that means I can make a couple more, right? To that end, I ordered some yarn today from Ireland.
When I was in Dublin last year, I stopped in a yarn shop and bought 4 balls each of 2 colors (light teal and dark teal, I guess you'd call them). I don't know what I was thinking when I bought so little! Good thing for me I found the same yarn on the Internet -- I ordered enough of the dark teal to make a sweater. Every dye lot is different, but I'm hoping what I already have will be close enough to the new stuff to be unnoticeable. For good measure, I bought sweater quantity of a charcoal gray yarn, too. Now, I just have to finish the scarf that is currently on my needles and then I can cast on. It will probably take about 6 weeks to make each sweater, so I need to get busy on the first one very soon.
