peanut butter ramen pad thai

Hah, I found this community and it's amazing. Thanks LJ spotlight.

I thought I would share my pseudo-pad thai-/PB ramen recipe. This recipe has been tossed around quite a bit, I'm sure, but I have spent much time perfecting this, and my recipe is a little different from the ones i've seen, and better than the one in the memories (imo anyway). I ate this a lot when I was broke. And when I say broke, I mean counting change to buy food.

So voila, here you go, the most amazing thing you can eat that costs less than a dollar (per serving).

Ingredients:

Ramen. Okay, note on the ramen: ANY flavor will do, but a spicy flavor works best. My ex-roommate loved it with the shrimp flavor, but shrimp anything grosses me out. I personally think the BEST ramen you can make this with is "CHILI" flavor, which incidentally makes it vegan! But that's entirely an accident, i don't think trashy eats is the place to worry about eating vegan. Anyway, the chili flavor ramen can be hard to find unless you live in a predominantly hispanic area, so you can try spicy chicken or beef if you can't find the chili flavour.

Okay so you have your ramen, now you need:
1 or 2 tablespoons of cheap extra crunchy peanut butter.
Garlic Powder or minced garlic
Red pepper flakes (steal packets from pizza hut)
slice of lime (steal from a bar when bartender is not looking)
veggie oil (can use water for this part instead)
water

optional:
kimchi
xtra hot sauce & chili powder
sesame seeds

So here's what you do:
Boil Water. Cook Ramen (don't crush the noodles. Add them whole to the pot or break them in half...) Drain. Set aside.
In a frying pan, heat  a small amount of oil OR 1/4 cup of water over medium-low heat.  Not too hot, just enough to fry the noodles up. Add the noodles and spice packet. Stir until mixed. Add PB, garlic, red pepper flakes, and any optional ingredients. continue stirring over heat until PB is melted and distributed throughout--add water if it is getting too dry. Remove from heat. Don't overcook or it'll burn the peanuts and make it too dry.

Pour into bowl.

Squeeze lime ontop, stir.
Eat.

That's about it.
If anyone has any crazy variations on this, you should post them!
