will and i went to john ball park zoo a couple weeks ago. this is what we saw.
these are the first animals in the park. they are my kin.
it was a cold rainy day so these guys were huddling together to keep warm.
this cotton-topped tamarin was awesome. he twitched and moved alot so it was hard to get a sharp picture of him. will ran around the outside of the glass while this little guy ran back and forth inside playing. it was sooo cute and fun and we played with him for a long time before moving on. and we revisited him too.
he just sat there.
this snake is vibrant and poisonous and very pretty for a snake if you ask me.
for some reason this picture reminds me of the movie "28 days later." it looks all crazed and wild and like i don't want to be caught in their path.
a clearer picture. he looks less threatening.
look at that old grizzly bear. or maybe he's a brown bear. i dunno.
this zoo is fairly tiny so it has less animals. but it seems to me that because of its small size, the animals get more attention and love. they all seemed quite happy when we saw them. we paid a buck each to pet the stingrays. they were very soft and friendly and i wish i had one for a pet. it rained a lot that day too and we, along with a elementary school fieldtrip, tried to keep warm and dry. throughout our visit we could also hear the tiger roaring across the zoo and we went to see him. i want a pet tiger too. we also met the guy who feeds the jellyfish. a young man around his thirties, he has stringy shoulder-length blondish-reddish hair and he wore glasses. it was a slow day at the zoo and he was feeling generous, so he took us into the bowels of the aquarium and we saw penguins up close, though we didn't get to pet them. he said their beaks are like scissors. the kinkajous were hiding when we first went by them, but on a revisit, we saw them and laughed at their cuteness. we also watched the howler monkey family for a while with another zookeeper and learned things about them from her. and the papa howler monkey howled for many minutes and we marveled at his booming voice. the river otters were playful. and suprising to us, the wolverine was as well. he ran around like a puppy reveling in one-on-one attention and we enjoyed his romping.
