So... I'm... kinda sorta not exactly back on LiveJournal?
I have set up shop over at Dreamwidth as
trascendenza, and it looks like I'll be maintaining some sort of blog over there. Or at least I'll be putting together a little comment ficathon, because Psych decided to go ahead and EAT MY BRAIN.
I'm not sure what I'll do with this LiveJournal. Probably just use it for things I can't do on DW? Especially because it sounds like AO3's opening soon, and that looks like a place I'd want to keep my fic instead of here, soo. I dunno. Archiving is still my frenemy.
The obligatory "what I've been up to in the past year", in list form:
+ Went on my Vision Quest. It was good. I wouldn't do it that specific way again (long story), but I definitely would like to do another one at some point in the future and I got what I needed out of it.
+ Right after that I spent quite some time just... being. Not working or seeing anyone or doing anything in particular. It was very nice.
+ Worked a lot. Learned an assload about sprinkler systems. Although what I know can really only fill a thimble compared to what you need to know to actually have a career in the industry. I started doing more tech-oriented work and am still really enjoying it, much to my surprise.
+ Got into sewing and altering clothes. I'm currently altering a giant purple man's shirt I bought from Goodwill so it, y'know, fits me. I've fiddled a little with embroidery but would like to get more into it. I love individualizing my clothes.
+ Became obsessed with shifting my entire wardrobe over to the colors purple, orange, red and yellow. It's taken me months (MONTHS) but I've very nearly succeeded. \o/
+ Went back to school last summer and pursued learning languages again. I moved into a place a block away from the JC campus and it's been heavenly to be so close. I'm currently learning Spanish and German and I'd like to add Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), as well.
+ At some point my hair grew out from the buzz cut. It's ridonkulously long right now (by my standards, which is around my chin). THERE'S SO MUCH OF IT.
+ I got matched with a Little Sister through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. 'Tis awesome. She likes lizards! I recently took her to a reptile store and we spent hours looking at all the critters.
+ Oh, yeaaaah. I got into running over the summer. My friend and I went on a bunch of summer runs in the mountainous area near our houses. It was pretty awesome. I started out the summer hardly able to run more than 3 minutes continuously; I think now I could manage three miles or so. I signed up for the school cross country team and it's been a mixed bag (the rest of the team is at a waaaaay higher skill level than I am), but overall I find that I really like running a lot. And I love my Mizuno shoes and supersole inserts. <3
+ Ahahaha, I READ SO MUCH FIC. Like, more than I ever did while in fandom. This amuses me to no end.
+ I recently started to get into writing fic again; over the past year I had the occasional idea and would write the occasional snippet, but it's only been recently that I've actually finished stories. I've missed writing.
And, now? Well, I signed up for NaNo and decided to do yuletide, so I decided to finally suck it up and buy myself a computer. (I haven't had one since I gave away my last one, though I've had lots of internet access elsewhere.) And then I wanted to run a Psych comment ficathon and it seemed silly not to de-lurk if I was going to do that and the rest is, as they say, history.
And I might be moving again to go to a community college that has Chinese classes, so that's exciting. And I have a jasmine plant that just came in the mail! God, I love the smell of jasmine. So life is good.
