Metamorphosis

Inside a human body,
a child grows.
Fully formed, like
Athena bursting from
within the forehead of Zeus,
no kind of embryo,
but a living-breathing-feeling
child. A child made of
new ideas, new behaviors,
unraveling the outer layer at
its seams,
shining forth undaunted
luminescence.
In me, stirs a volcano
epic in its invisible
proportions.
I am no butterfly, I am
no larvae,
I am something greater
something less.
I am me,
finding my new skin.
