Note to self: tagging with "fandom: the invisible man" because of Vincent Ventresca.
Things I have learned from working on my mood theme today:
- Foreheads are irrelevant. IRRELEVANT.
- 100x100 seems huge after working with 45x90
- I like caps of people with their mouths open (laughing, screaming, surprised, etc.). I’m sure this says Very Telling Things about me.
- I like eyes. Especially blue ones.
- I have a much easier to find caps for moods like “happy” than for ones like “exanimate” or “nostalgic.” Probably because almost all my favorite caps are of people smiling and grinning and being silly.
- Not all my favorite actors are equally as photogenic. Lose!
The Prestige
The Prestige was really, really good. The cat and mouse feeling of the whole movie was so well done. And I loved Hugh and Christian’s performances. (Christian’s accent was also unbearably cute. *g*) It was really sad, but well done enough that I didn’t mind the wife-dying syndrome.
I loved the tie-in with Borden figuring out the Chinese magician’s trick and how that came to fruition in his own storyline.
And how much do I love that Nikola Tesla was a character? I’ve admired him since I was just a wee little Sheera, and it was so cool to see him featured. I personally wouldn’t have cast that actor as him, but c’est la vie. I still think it’s neat that him and his work were featured at all.
I found it sort of funny how no one except Alfred (er, I mean... well, whatever his name was) was speaking in their native accent.
I can see why
tinheart told me that slash would be a little difficult to write for this movie. BUT I SO WANT TO ANYWAY. Especially because, hi, DOPPELCEST, only my biggest surefire kink EVER, is ridiculously canon. Two Hugh Jackmans and two Christian Bales? BEST FOURSOME EVER.
Hell, even just Hugh Jackman with himself... yeah. That’s basically irresistible.
Of course, saddest and angstiest foursome ever. So much bad blood between them. In a way, that makes it easier, though-their mutual obsession with each other is a lot easier to work with than a lack of interaction/common ground.
Anyway, good movie. I can see why it’s been recommended to me more than once.
Dead & Breakfast
Hahahaha. This movie was so silly. It was one of those movies that was so bad that I almost liked it for that-it had a high aware-of-its-own-silliness threshold. There were dancing zombies, a (canonically gay!) cowboy who narrated the movie through song, and about a million people in the movie who are from other things-like Vincent Ventresca from Invisible Man (the reason I checked this out), the guy who plays Billy from Six Feet Under, Oswald from the Drew Carey Show, and the guy who plays the father on Supernatural, I think? Not to mention David Carradine.
Vince’s part was small, but funny. He played the town doctor who’s geeky about manure and not very good at doing autopsies. *g* There was also a cute vegan character, and hey, she wasn’t a horrible stereotype! She was pretty neat. So notch one on the record for a positive portrayal of vegans in media.
But, really, the song lyrics were the highlight of the movie:
And who was that drifted that was hangin’ around?
Some outcast nomadic kinda rambler,
tall dark mysterious and sultry man with bedroom eyes
and shoulders you could hang a bedspread on. [tips hat]
Uh, I mean I like huntin’ and fishin’,
c’mon I’m a red-meat man who likes his films gory,
so let’s just continue on with our story.
[zombies in background singing “we’re comin’ to kill ya” on repeat]
I like hemoglobin in my mouth, your frontal lobe until I spit it out,
yo, we be gloatin’, humans taste like trout
and some after dinner smokes are what I’m all about.
...
And you know I’ll eat ’em raw, fuck medium-rare
Blood is as sweet as moonshine whiskey
Come outside, you can drink some with me
We want guts to spill, you know we’re so alive when we kill, kill, kill.
And the As the World Turns possible spoilers still have me all happy and giddy. Usually I’m a spoilerphobe (I even hate being spoiled for things that aired years ago-like I accidentally read a spoiler for the end of Northern Exposure on amazon.com and I’m still really sad about that), but for some reason, with this show, I’m a spoileraholic. Probably because Luke/Noah aren’t on the air nearly enough to satisfy.
I really want to write some Luke/Noah fic and find the idea really daunting. I don’t know why! Maybe because I know that within a few days or a week my fic will be rendered obsolete? No, I don’t think that’s it... or, well, maybe it is. Thinking about it, the fic I write for current shows is usually either canon or blatantly AU. Generally I’m slashing characters who won’t get together in canon. But Luke and Noah are blessedly different. I’m also afraid of my bunnies spiraling out into huge longfic ideas, because this pairing makes it so easy to go that route.
Ah, well, there’s always Jake/Van if I don’t overcome my Luke/Noah apprehensions. *g*
...And I’m really tempted to watch the pilots for Chuck, Heroes, and Greek. *eyes them warily*
