Well, been gone a while, and, sadly, very little has happened. Summer life is just not as interestning as school life, so I have very little to say. There are two things of import, turned 21, and have relative visiting from Oklahoma, which means Tanya's brother, sister-in-law, and 6 year old nephew are at our house for a week. All nice people, and VERY considerate house guests. Little Joey has more energy than I think is possible for such a small body, but he's really cute.
The real occasion for this post is the novel that I finished yesterday, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. I have to say this is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. It follow the life of one man, Jimmy/Snowman, through two timelines, one before, one after, a cataclym has killed the rest of the human race, where Snowman cares for a new race of humanoids created by Snowman's boyhood friend Crake. The story is about Crake and Snowman's friendship, armageddon, and what happens afterward. Its starts off pretty confusing, but over time a soup of disconnected facts weave themselves into a complex web which forms the big picture of what happened to the world. I have to go back a read more Margaret Atwood, I think I'm finally old enough to understand her understated breed of futuristic ficiton. She's incredible, and I highly recommend this book, especially to those of you who are sci-fi lovers and even more so to my friends who are biologists and biochemists.
