[Derek studies the vial for a long moment before taking it. He's kind of desperate at this point and Myrnin has been the consummate professional in drawing his blood and working with him. Derek isn't stupid though, he's a little worried about what those risks might be.]
Honestly the best I can guess at is an overload of the senses. Massive headaches because your brain is trying to work too fast. Access to memories but unable to process them because your brain can't process all the information at one time. Maybe an inability to make sense of the memories.
That's all a guess.
[Myrnin sits back in his chair, watching Derek carefully]
Then again it could work perfectly; allow you access to your memories, to make sense of them and make you extremely clear headed.
[For several long moments, Derek considers that. His finger taps the vial, the only tell-tale sign of the nerves he feels inside, that anxiousness that's been slowly building inside of him since the beginning of this month. He's already lost so much... can he stand to lose more without doing something? The answer to that is no. Derek is a man of action, not one to sit idly by and let this happen, which is why he's here with Myrnin in the first place.]
You just drink that and then we wait to see what happens. I'll give you a couple of hours to let it take effect and then I'll question you on how you're feeling.
At the most. Perhaps a bit under. It will need time to work through your blood stream, hit your brain and stew there a bit before it gets to work.
[Myrnin sees that nose wrinkle] I didn't think it smelled or tasted so bad but then my sense of smell and taste for such things is a bit different than a human.
[Again, Derek is considering his options. And really, his memory is deteriorating so rapidly that he really doesn't have any of those, options. Also, Myrnin has given him no reason to think that he doesn't know what he's doing. Knowing that he's in as good of hands as he's going to get, Derek takes a deep breath and nods.]
Down the hatch then.
[He takes the syrum, dunking it like its a shot of alcohol. It's bittersweet and he takes a moment for the strong taste to dull a bit.]
I'll observe and make notes to your behavior. Once you've reached a constant I'll let you to yourself but regardless I'd like for you to stay a couple of days.
Can you spell out some of those risks for me?

[He takes the stopper off and sniffs at the contents, his nose wrinkling in reaction to the scent.]
