"We probably missed the power of the advertising model, not so much the technology"
-Steve Ballmer CEO of Microsoft.
Really Steve? It was just a silly little oversight in terms of the marketing potential, but that's OK because you've got TOP NOTCH internet technology. Like your wonderful search engine which consistently gives me garbage results. Every so often, just so that I don't stay in a google bubble, I venture out into the wide world of other search engines; just to gauge how things are going for those lagging behind the omniscient Google. I just type in a few keywords and see which one gets it right. Well guess what? The MS technology still sucks. When I type in Max's Vancouver in both search engines I get the Max's Deli and maps to several locations on Google (awesome, now I can go have good food!). When I type it into live.com I get several results referring to Re/MAX in Vancouver... OK? Nowhere on the first page, does it include the deli. Le Sigh, I guess I'll just much on some tasty real estate (mmm, dirt). But it's not just search technology, their browser is riddled with security holes, hogs memory and is just as clunky as the rest of their software. Same for Silverlight (the watered down MS version of Flash player, which is pretty much the agreed-upon standard). et cetera et cetera. Slowly, things are moving towards a model where software no longer relies on Microsoft Windows, and when we can break free of that Operating system (without the massive loss of functionality and enormous ego inflation *cough* Mac), that will be a glorious day.
