our local is cool!
today Matt and I rented kayaks and paddled from the drop off point, which happens to be the bottom of our hill up the coastline to Pigeon river, up river a bit, 3/4 mile or so turned around and went back. All told something like 6 miles - it was totally cool. And so easy; no 2 hour drive to somewhere more scenic to kayak in, no being schlepped around in a truck to get to the "starting place up river." It was so cool and fun, we'll have to do it again next year - as long as Matt hasn't already talked me into buying a pair of Kayaks - then we won't have to do the renting portion.... well just tote them down the hill and jump in!
