One more thing about how Democrats have no idea what Congress has been doing:

You can like the 111th Congress or you can dislike it, but there’s just no way to deny that it did a lot more stuff than the four or five congresses before it. That said, I’m not really sure how people are supposed to know about all this since the incumbents responsible for a lot of this sweeping change to come seem almost embarrassed to talk about it at times.
Yeah. You know, if only there were some sort of independent organization, or network of organizations, whose purpose was to gather information about what our government was doing and then distribute that information to the general public.  Maybe that would solve the problem?

I think part of this is that it's become seriously uncool for the media to actually tell people things when it comes to politics.  Instead, they have to go out and find some expert and quote them telling you things.  It also seems to have been decided that politics is best approached like a sport - the quality of legislation, or really its existence, is less important than the question of who's winning and who's not.  Thus, passing health care was a huge victory, but since it doesn't poll well it may actually work against the Democrats in the next round.  Never mind why it doesn't poll well or what the law actually does.  It's already a cliché that politics is perception, but we seem to be in an era where policy is, too.
