What do you get when you take an emotionally conflicted boy, you have him kill an illusion of his mother, formalize a sort of relationship with a girl who was his enemy, and then give him a hickey?

Yoiu end up with a really tired kid who hasn't slept because there's just too much crap in his head and not a soul to talk to about it. Zuko hasn't ( Read more... )

That is a boring video, Zuko - especially if all you're going to do is sit and watch it, not follow along. And since Zuko is on the couch and no one's up and watching, and Katara has a tendency to leave her videos on, it could be assumed that the room is empty.

Which is likely why Angelo is venturing back into a room where people tend to appear for the specific reason of annoying him. "Stace, gimme that movie Cybil was talkin' about - The Fast and the Furious." And with that, he's going to plop onto the couch.

...At least, that was the plan before he spotted Zuko - luckily, before he sat on him. Jumping back to his feet, Angelo stares for a second before raising a brow and muttering a 'cancel that' to Stacy.

"Sorry, man - didn't know you were in here."

"Mmgh." Zuko rubs his eyes and peers up. "What the hell is 'Fast and Furious'?" he asks, as he shift on the couch, rubbing at his eyes. He's sort of following the Tai Chi video...

...okay he's totally blottoing righ out and not 'seeing' it, really. But, well, what do you do!?

...Yeah, sounds more like he was sleeping, actually, and Angelo eyes him a little more before sinking onto the couch. He's not screaming and looking at him weird, so whatever - he'll watch his movie.

"S'a movie Cybil told me I'd like. Somethin' 'bout cars. It's after my time."

"Getting on with our den mother, huh?" Zuko is hoping to God she does not figure out him and Katara are a -- a -- whatever. HE's pretty sure he'll get some sort of lecure. HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT KIND, but some sort all the same.

Angelo smirks a little, shrugging as he leans back and watches the credits play, feet propped up on the table. "Dunno about you, but my mama never handed me a weapon and said 'Good luck, you're in charge, make sure nobody dies.' I think you're the only one she mothers between us, muchacho."

"Last thing my mother said to me was, 'Everything I did was to protect you.' And then she left us." He shrugs, and then looks at the screen. "Guess I've just got her attention, that's all. Or maybe just her pity."

"If that's how all your stories go, I'm guessin' the last one," Angelo notes, frowning as the names come up. He doesn't know any of those! Not a single one of the actors! How far into the future is this anyway?!

"She's all right, for policia."

"Po-- what?" He does not know this word! Explain the Spanish to him!

"Policia, police, cops," Angelo says, waving a hand, glancing to Zuko.

...He didn't get any of that, did he?

"Like... guards, man. The guys that make sure the laws happen. Mamas for the whole city."

"Oh," say Zuko. "I see. City guard. She strikes me as the type." He didn't know they allowed chicks to do that, though! THat's liberated in a way Zuko's not really into.

Katara'll work on that, he's sure.

Katara would be proud.

"Yeah, she's not real good at hidin' it. Then again, you act like a prince and I act like a thug, so we can't complain, no?"

Except when Angelo acts like a hero - but that's just a different example.

He'd say more but he just glanced back to the screen in time for a girl to come on. Specifically, a girl he's never seen before, a new actress. A new Hispanic actress, grungy in a car garage.

For all these reasons, he whistles low, brows up. "I think I'm likin' this movie and I ain't even seen any cars yet."

"...do i really?" Zuko asks, looking over. "Do you have-- princes as well as thugs where you come from?"

Because it would make for interesting comparisons, you know.

"Oh, yeah," Angelo says with a smirk, still ogling Michelle Rodriguez. "We got some, I guess - none in my country. Not every place is run like that, conoces? So some places got kings and queens, some places got presidents."

Zuko does not seem pleased by this idea. THat he is-- peggable.

Well, actually, some tiny part says YES I AM A PRINCE THANKS FOR NOTICING but the rest of him sort of finds an -- unpleasant discomfort. Would they notice in Ba Sing Se, someday? Or just think him bitter?

OR... would it be something else, entirely, someday, maybe-- in the Water Tribe?

He sighed, and looked at Michelle Rodriguez; while hot, and Zuko has been developing a preference toward darker women... well, he's got his mind elsewhere.

Well, Michelle Rodriguez is dark - just not as dark as Katara. Besides, she's hot sagging with those cotton boxers and tight t-shirts. Angelo approves.

But he's glancing over a moment later, from the beauty of Michelle, to see Zuko's latest emo. He smirks for it, turning away and looking back toward the screen.

"You always been able to do that? Turn every little comment into somethin' bad? You emo like a pro, amigo."

"I just-- have a lot on my mind," he says. "I suppose I should be happy to be known for what I am. But-- what does it get me? What does it matter? Even if I was home..." he shakes his head.

Only trouble.

He rubs the back of his neck, and then stops, drawing his hand to the side. "It's -- nothing, really. Foolishness, I suppose."
