Mulder's been MIA, and while that's mostly the mun's fault, she's going to give him valid reason for disappearing.

After the initial shock and awe Mulder felt upon realizing just exactly where he was and what was going on, something... different sunk in. It wasn't excitement, that's for sure, and it wasn't wonder, it was just... this emptiness that - no matter how hard he tried - he couldn't shake. It settled deep in his chest and refused to leave, and after a few days Mulder realized it wouldn't be filled anytime soon, either.

The nights became longer and the days stretched on for what seemed like forever, which tends to happen when you sit around and literally stare into space.

He knows what the problem is.

He's an outcast in a group of outcasts, and no one's going to understand him, his motives, his beliefs, because everyone's from a different place and he doesn't know or trust anyone enough to let them know any more about him aside from I'm Fox Mulder and I'm kind of weird.

He misses Scully, and it's become painfully obvious.
