hey i know this is reallly random...but you posted a comment on one of my posts (about helping the animals in the disaster)...you said (in reply to someone calling animals "insignificant":

Ignorance is just another way to be ugly.
Id like to point out to the person calling them "insignificant". If you really believe that, as well as the girl who says that they don't contribute to the world, then you're so ridiculously ignorant and COMPLETELY making yourself look stupid--

THEYRE USING DOGS TO SNIFF FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE. THEYRE USING THE SEARCH DOGS TO SNIFF OUT HUMAN SCENT IN THE DEBRIS THAT HUMANS CANT GET TO OR ARE PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO. A MAN WAS FOUND BENEATH 12 FEET OF DEBRIS AS A RESULT OF THIS AND HIS LIFE WAS SAVED. THE DOGS ARE ALSO BEING USED FOR THE TASK OF SNIFFING FOR THE BODIES OF THE DECEASED TO HELP LOCATE THE BODIES IN AN EFFORT TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE DIGNITY AND TO GIVE THEIR FAMILIES CLOSURE.

No offense, but Im pretty sure those "insignificant animals" are doing a hell of a lot more than you are.

I appreciated this post a LOT. And I think that yes, the people are important-- but nobody said they weren't! Someone merely pointed out that they are not the only ones suffering! Nobody said, "Hey, look, people don't matter-- lets just get the fuzzy fluffy puppies!!"

Arskgbjkskgdbjkg. It makes me so mad. It really does. I have family down there that I don't know whether or not they're okay or alive. I do believe that there's a lack of government involvement but I also think that the people in the US and in the other countries who are volunteering help are doing an amazing job and I am thankful of ANY effort that ANYBODY makes-- whether its for people, for the animals, for the relief efforts, or even if its just thanking a National Guard person if you see them driving down to help out. People need to learn to appreciate EVERYBODY who makes ANY effort in a time like this instead of sitting around and complaining about what isn't being done. Its all about perspective.

Phew. Well, Thanks for posting this ilford_nerd, I apprecaited it a lot and Im glad that you took the time to think about and have compassion for them. <3

i couldn't reply to your comment by email so i thought i'd do it here...i'm glad to see someone else defending the helpless creatures...it makes me really sad to read comments saying animals are insignificant and don't mean anything and that the people are more important and bla bla bla...so i wanted to say thank you for writing what you did, and i'm so happy to see that another person is also thinking of the animals. so, thanks!!
