Sho recounts a little surprise that the Arashi members prepared for him during Best Artist 2010.
Hello.
It’s me.
Best Artist 2010, which was held the other day.
When the members arrived at Makuhari Messe while doing the kibasen.
[T/N: The kibasen is an event similar to the Chicken Fight and is played in schools in Japan during their annual sports day.]
While I was dumbfounded, it made me feel slightly warm inside.
“Somehow, these people seem like a lot of fun.”
So I thought.
Shortly after that, I retreated from the stage to change my outfit. I hurriedly slipped into my outfit and waited for the other members at the stage entrance.
Matsumoto: Sho-kun, do you want to be the first to go out?
Sakurai: Well… okay.
Because we were all flustered, I forgot who proposed it…
Arashi: So, shall we do the kibasen?
Sho: … huh?
Arashi: Let’s do it!!
Sho: Huh. Are you sure?
Nino (probably): There’s no time!! Aiba-chan and I will carry you!
Matsujun (probably): Okay, Leader and I will hype things up at the back!!
(↑ What on earth was this supposed to mean?)
Only during times like these…
They demonstrated such nimble judgment and extraordinary teamwork.
Sakurai: Erm… Seriously? For real?
So I said, as this humble servant was carried on their shoulders…
I displayed a vibrant M-shaped split.
Sakurai of Joytoy*.
[T/N: Sho is referencing a gravure model, Yinling of Joytoy, who’s famous for her poses where she spreads her legs provocatively in the shape of the letter “M”.]
It was no longer about the kibasen, it was simply a display of shame.
After that, we completed our performance and the show ended smoothly.
As I was also the emcee, I escorted the Arashi members off the stage, and greeting the audience members together with Hatori-san, Nishio-san and Akasaka-san.
Then I returned to my dressing room.
The Arashi members, who had just finished their performance, were there.
Even though they had just finished singing themselves…
Arashi: Sho-san, great job on emceeing for the past 3 hours!! Thanks for your hard work!!
(applause)
It wasn’t exactly a surprise, but more of a little surprise.
It’s nice, somehow.
Things like this.
Oh man…
I’ll just keep the M-shaped split to myself…
It made me a little happier.
With such stuff behind the scenes.
Ah!!
Steak and sandwich!
That’s not what I meant.
Speaking of which!
This is the last Otonoha post of the year.
Dear readers.
I am truly indebted to you in 2010 as well.
Once again, I’m sure we’ve both been busy.
Until Kouhaku, Team ARASHI’s (including everyone) 2010 won’t end, but…
For now!
Happy New Year!!!
We’ll see each other again next year!!
Bye bee!!

For the intellectually curious, you may view the M-shaped split shown by Yinling of Joytoy
