Frank Sr. rushed outside with his improvised weapon, screaming a battle cry. The zombies had already started moving away from the fire, but there were still several close by. The blade cut through them with ease; it was amazing to watch. By the time I turned around, Lanky was already through the vent and on his way out with the other blade. Moments after, I heard some screaming inside and poked my head down to see what was going on.
Two zombies had made their way into the warehouse. Chuck whapped one in the side and knocked it over, then bashed it in the head until he was sure it wouldn't get up again. The other one came toward Stacy. She impaled it in the chest, but it kept moving. Joe yelled and it turned toward him. As it turned, the bar swung and knocked Stacy onto the ground. For a moment she froze, but self-preservation took over and she scrambled under the van, which was only a couple feet away. Chuck grabbed the bar that was sticking out of the zombie's chest to hold it still, and Joe beat its head in.
Suddenly, I remembered I wasn't doing my job. I quickly grabbed as many of the remaining shirts as I could and ran to the other end of the building. I ran back and pushed the large container of developer over to the vent. I called down to the gang inside. Joe and Stacy were still a little shaken about what had just transpired, but Terry and Chuck came over to the ladder so I could hand the developer down to them.
By that point, Frank Sr. and Lanky had cleared the way past Bunkline's door. I ran over to their vent and let them know it was okay to come out. The braver souls in the group emerged from the building and I climbed back down into the warehouse.
Frank Sr. was getting tired. He's a strong guy, but he's pushing sixty and all the strenuous activity was getting to him. One of the guys from Bunkline offered to take his place so he could rest.
The fire was starting to die down so we had to move quickly. There were several dumpsters lining the alley, and the plan was to use them to form a blockade (we hoped the zombies wouldn't be smart enough to climb it). Those of us who weren't doing anything stood behind the dumpster for the candle store, which is next to Minuteman at the end of the building. At the count of three, we pushed. It moved, but it was pretty difficult. It took several pushes but a couple minutes later it was in place. The candle store's dumpster was mostly empty, but ours was far from it. There's no way we would have been able to move it if it was full. We grabbed the trash bags and tossed them away, then went to work moving the dumpster. This was going to take awhile.
