Part of Flynn--the logical part--knows that he should just quietly say, I know...I won't and leave. Staying to talk won't change anything, can't undo what's already been done...but another part of him knows that this might very well be the last time he really gets to talk to Yuri alone like this, and he can't stand the thought of not saying everything he wants to say and regretting it later. It might go the other way too, that he says more than he wants to and regrets that instead, but in his way of thinking, wishing to take words back is infinitely easier to bear than keeping them bottled up inside you for the rest of your life.

So before he can stop himself, he half-turns back towards Yuri, not even bothering to hide the misery in his expression. Yuri's the only one there to see it, and there's no reason to keep that from him; he knows anyway.

"...Do you really think I want to do this? That hunting down my best friend is something I ever thought I would have to do when I joined the Knights?" He shakes his head, giving a huff of laughter that isn't at all amused. "But it doesn't matter what I want anymore, Yuri. Even if I was given the position of Commandant permanently, even if they knew everything you did to save Zaphias..." He shakes his head again, though his eyes don't leave Yuri's face. "...There's nothing I can do to change this...or believe me, I would."
