[Free For All] Heaven ain't close in a place like this

Mar 13, 2010 16:35

[Wherever you are? Not there anymore. Wherever you do find yourself -- in a dark alley, an empty street, perhaps an abandoned office building -- it's night out. But despite the obvious city setting, it's deathly quiet around you -- except for the occasional sound of the wind. ...Or is that a moan off in the distance ( Read more... )

[ Meaning keep it out of the body - and yeah kinda caught that but just assumed it was cuz Jill knew better and Tenten's just the amateur rookie here when it comes to Raccoon City - that she can do.

We won't mention the fact that Tao-mun got to watch RE:Degeneration a few days ago~ Not that it matters in this situation, but there was a need to share. ♥

Moves quickly and silently behind her through the street, resisting the urge to just react when she spots the scatter of zombies here and there because its in Tenten's nature to kill the suckers before they have a chance to kill her. But Jill doesn't seem concerned so she'll follow the lead and keeps moving until they reach the station. Summons the first aid kit again when its mentioned that the bandages need to be changed and keeps an eye out for anyone or anything approaching. ] I understand.

[ There's... really no need for much words exchanged. Tenten's a good solider who knows when to lead and when to follow. Isn't sure which one of those times it is now though as she watches the other for a bit. ] ...Are you gonna make it?

[nods once as she begins changing the gauze and since we're not mentioning that fact, Phase won't go OMFG and ask WASN'T IT AWESOME and she certainly won't add that Angela is a movie-only O.C. who can GTFO] Yeah... I've just done more running around lately than I should be. [tries a smile at that, but it falls kinda short -- but she's turning more serious a second later anyway]

Listen -- I didn't have the chance to say this before, but -- [hesitates, knowing she'll sound crazy, but to heck with it.] ...I used to live in this city. Before it was like this. But ten years ago, the government wiped it off the map to prevent the virus from spreading. It shouldn't be here. [glances up to show a perfectly serious face] ...I don't know what's going on, but the chances of us getting out like last time -- I have a feeling it won't be that easy.

[ Completely wanted to wait until Tao watched all of the RE movies before replying, but there was no time. She did, however, get to watch a little of RE:Apocalypse and RE:Extinction whilst there was a marathon on cable... yay cable. ♥ and the need for gauze was facilitated as Tenten called up a few more rolls from her scrolls and hands them over to Jill without a glance. ] Sometimes running is the best option. Saves time and resources that'll come in handy later.

[ Does look up at the serious shift in her tone though and listens attentively like the shinobi/soldier/ally/teammate she is. And oddly enough, Tenten's face is grimly calm while she takes in all of the info Jill's spilling out. It's a hopeless situation, she's saying. But Tenten's fought in a lot of hopeless situations. The odds are against them, but if there's anything she's learned, it's that you never count out the underdog... ] And the things worth fighting for are never easy, but they're still possible. [ Meets the other's gaze with Team Gai's brand of determination. ] Those odds are good enough for me.

[...And Phase, with a stiff, tense sort of forced calmness, states that THOSE "Resident Evil" (/air quotes) movies are, in fact her opinion, the worst idea of a joke EVER, because they have nothing whatsoever to do with the games except that they mention a company named "Umbrella" and have laaaaame zombies, and adds that the protagonist is a movie-only Mary-Sue who should have been killed by the T-Virus LONG ago but was instead given Super Duper Sparkly Powers by it because of her Mary-Sueness. ...And Phase also adds that few canon characters are actually in there, and those that are look NOTHING like themselves (except Jill) and ACT nothing like themselves and are only in there to look stupid and make Alice look like less of a loser. 8| ....*cough* That prompts an affected smile. She got an enthusiastic one, at least.] Wise words. Especially for someone your age. [...ah, she feels old saying that...]

[Quickly finishes the bandage change and stands, leaning against a shelf momentarily while trying to make it look like... she's not leaning against a shelf momentarily.] Thanks. All right -- we don't have far to go, unless -- [Pauses, looking distracted, holding up a hand to indicate that they both remain silent. There's a... hissing sound, almost, and it sounds close, and closer as the seconds tick by -- and no sooner do her eyes widen in realization does the store suddenly explode-- but whatever it was that hit the place, luckily, it hit the backside, so the two of them are only thrown forward towards the gas pumps, which luckily weren't hit rather than being incinerated.]

[Jill's on her feet as soon as she's able, saved from any painful scrapes by her (surprisingly defensive) battle suit; behind them, the gas station is in flames.] Tenten! You okay?

[ ...Then, Tao would like to say, it's a very good thing she didn't watch all of either movie and truth be told, Jill was the only reason she watched in the first place cuz there was no Jill in RE:D; SO got jipped in RE:E Ah, wants to say 'you'd be surprised with what I've seen in my 16 years' but refrains and just quirks her lip up in a smirk -

- and freezes.

Because she hears it too. And it takes a split second for Tenten to recognize it exploding tags, bombs, dynamite, they all sound the same and she's heard them all a breath before Jill does and is already making to dart out, hand gripped around the other's wrist by the time the wave of pressure sends them tumbling forward.

Tenten is not as fortunate in the scrapes department, but they're not so bad. Just one across her left temple and forearm where they kind of skidded against concrete when she tried to break her fall. Ouch. But no worse for the wear, really. Sooo much smoke though. Cough. ] I'm fine - [ Cough. ] - Still alive.

[...Jill's not a smoker, either, so Phase is lost as to why the movies made her one... As relieved as she is for that, she doesn't relax yet -- she has a very bad feeling as to the source of that blast, so she peers through the plumes of smoke rising over the building's remains--]

[...if you thought it was odd before that none of the creatures so far seemed to faze her, you'll probably notice that this one definitely has an effect. She starts at that cry, looking positively alarmed -- but as she turns to Tenten to speak, her eyes widen further. Behind them, some of the flames from the store have touched down on a stream of gasoline, already racing down it towards where it pools near the gas pumps--]

MOVE!

[ Live-action movies generally never make as much sense in correlation to the original games. Phase should know that by now. On her hands and knees, had started the process of healing the scratch on her temple, hand glowing faintly with chakra, when the call went out - ]

[ - AND WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? - ASDKFJALLSAKF - WHAT THE FUCK IS IT - IS THAT WHAT SHE THINKS - KAMI, FREAKIN' SHIT! -

- Is already getting up by the time she hears Jill make the command. But her eyes snap to just why.

...Well shit, if it weren't bad enough. ]

[ Moves quickly, darting with whatever strength is still in her and tackles Jill, the both of them rolling off into a grassy, gravelly patch of earth. Finally stopping in a low kneel, squat sort of position, pulls open her scroll and summons that metal shield Tao she loves to use so much during her matches against Sasuke to protect them both.

Just as the station explodes in a fiery blast.

Because hell if they would've/could've made it out of the blast range of a lit GAS STATION in time to clear the explosion. ]

[And all she can really do is stay still and trust that whatever they're under is strong enough to protect them -- and judging by the deafening roar that passes around them, and the fact that she's still alive to hear it and feel the ground rumbling, it's working.]

[ The air inside is hot, almost stifling as the flames turns the shield into a boiling mass of thick metal. And the roar of the flames could be heard on the other side.

She had to wait until the sound, at least, died down before even attempting to open the shield.

And with one swift kick to the inside panel, the sections pulled back one by one, letting the fresher not by much, but still fresher in comparison to their steel furnace prison air swirl around them in a cool gust. And she would relax a little at surviving... but there's still something out there.

Looks to Jill and wipes a bead of sweat from her forehead. Calls out over the fire. ] You ok?

[Has to cough at the sudden inhalation of (relatively) cleaner air, but nods as she climbs to her feet. She's not relaxing any sooner than Tenten, though, so she quickly looks around as soon as her head clears enough. A glance at the building where the Tyrant was standing before -- he's gone, and even a hasty look in every direction doesn't reveal him.

Maybe he thought the explosion killed h--

Crack. Crack. Crackcrackcrackcrack--

Of course not.

She turns to see the street splitting in several places, the cracks zooming towards them, revealing the movement of something just beneath the concrete. She steadies her gun against her hip just as several somethings burst from the road just ahead of them -- and those somethings turn out to be several wildly waving tentacles, thick enough to hurt but thin enough to be a difficult target. And Jill's definitely played this game before ...no pun intended, so she aims for the nearest one that's waving dangerously and begins firing.]

[ Frantically searches around, knowing something's out there -- still out there -- and rather peeved that she doesn't know exactly where...

...That is until she hears the cracking. Deep snapping might be a better term, because holy hell, the concrete is splitting like it's made of paper and - alkjsdflksjadlfkjsaf - SHE WAS NOT EXPECTING THE GROUND TO EXPLODE UNDERNEATH HER WITH... THAT COMING UP TO KILL THEM dammit, she hates being right ]

[ And after she composes her shock and registers just what it is that's attacking them... watch her throw everything she's got at the tentacles.

...No. Not tentacles. They're just training ropes, she tells herself. Because that's the only way she's gonna get through all this without freaking out too much. This is just another of Gai-sensei's crazy exercise obstacles. And she'll make it through this one like all the rest. ]

[[ OoC: Because you know he did. ]]
