Standing beside the Fountain in front of the school is Princess Sakura. She’s dressed in
the same outfit she wore on her ‘solo mission’ in Acid Tokyo, which she got from the Store yesterday,
gun and all. The boots are different though,
much higher-cut, and there’s what looks like some sort of
brace on her right leg. She’s obviously waiting for someone, staring unseeingly into the water and looking rather uncharacteristically grim as she does so.
Even now, she hesitates to involve someone else in this matter, to selfishly let them risk their life for her, even someone as strong as she can tell Sasuke is; but she’s learned something of debts and payment and wishes since the start of her journey, and this is very much what he wants, and she will neither gainsay him nor refuse his sincere offer to help, because that would be even more selfish.
Still, she knows there’s danger in bringing him along--both the obvious risk of physical danger, because this will likely be a perilous endeavour, but also the possible (but no less serious for all its implausibility) risk to herself. He’d killed her once, after all, and she’d fare little better if he tried it again. She can’t know for certain that he won’t, that his curse (as she still considers it, not knowing the details) won't reactivate and that what happened before won’t happen again; she knows only what her magic tells her--that his heart cries out in pain, that there is a hunger there, and that he is not all that he seems in more than one way. And yet…she can’t help but feel for him, something that is not quite pity and a lot more like compassion, because she also knows that deep down, he hates the thought of hurting people, and this is the only way he can see to make up for what he’d done to her.
There is nothing she can do but trust him--trust that he will help her, that helping her will heal him somewhat…and that he will fight the lure of the feather’s power and not give in, regardless of all the possibilities that power could promise him.
