[never does. ah, such is the burden of being so obscenely good-looking and unbelievably dashing]
[still, Lloyd > random hunnies the only person he'd take the "bros before hos" route for lolol SO after some suave murmurings of sweet nothings to the group, they disperse in clusters of two or three, leaving him to come sauntering up to Lloyd]
...How do you do that? [it's not like the question can be mistaken for envy or any of that silly stuff; he'd use the same tone to ask "GEE, COLETTE, HOW ARE YOU SO GOOD WITH STRAY DOGS?"]
...I can already tell that Zelos is gonna be HILARIOUS to play. |DtooprettysrslyDecember 1 2009, 03:36:10 UTC
[being who he is, he apparently takes it as a huge compliment anyway |D]
I can't help it, man. I don't really do anything--they're all just naturally drawn to my unmatchable beauty, like bunch of cute little bumblebees to a gorgeous flower.
...Except that she said-- [pauses, trying to remember the exact wording] --that women like that are no better than love-starved puppies who will... [another pause] ...dote on any self-confident man who gives them the time of day.
Heh! Ah, the barbed tongue of a woman scorned...she must be more jealous than I thought. But really, she shouldn't blame them. They can't help it any more than I can.
[...being called out on his at least partially-faked, as always bombastic behaviour already? Man, Lloyd, can't a guy have some fun once in a while? Not dropping the act that easily though.]
And why shouldn't I believe it? I mean, could she be more obvious about how she really feels about me?
[Well, as much as I really do trust you and as flattering as it is that you want to see the "real" me, old habits die hard, so you're still gonna have to work for it a little.]
[said patiently, like he's teaching a small child and, well...] Lloyd, haven't you ever heard the saying, 'You always hurt the one you love'?
[...Well, the walls snap back up around other people, and it takes a while to get them lowered again. But the mask is already slipping just a little, which is evident in both his iconfais expression and his tone.]
It doesn't mean literally hurting people, at least not most of the time. [rubs the back of his head as if remembering Sheena's most recent thwack lol] Heh, well, it can mean a lot of things, I guess, but one of those meanings is that sometimes you push people away because you're afraid of being hurt.
[...And maybe we're not talking entirely about Sheena anymore. And maybe this is sort of an indirect apology/explanation. And maybe you'll miss all that entirely, I never know with you.]
Oh. [blinks again and stares, and then frowns, seriously considering that.]
...That's still kinda wrong, though, isn't it? The saying, I mean. You're not just hurting the ones you care about, then. You're hurting yourself, too.
[have a look. which may or may not mean something.] And sometimes hurting yourself is really what hurts others.
[that gives him pause, the idea that someone might honestly care enough about him that his pain would be their pain something of a startling one; but then he just shrugs & says with a carelessness he really doesn't feel, and that doesn't come close to even touching his face]
It's all relative, I guess. Sure, it might hurt to push people away and not let anyone get close to you, but doesn't it hurt more if you do let someone get close, and then they end up betraying you?
Well... yeah. Getting hurt like that -- it stays with you. [his eyes drift slightly in reflection, but after a moment he looks up again]
...You might get hurt a few times along the way, but I think that's better than always being alone. [smiles slightly, and then suddenly grins] Besides... that kind of pain is always easier to handle when you have friends around.

[blink.] ...She says she hates you. And that she wouldn't have any interest in you if you were the last guy in either world.

[moar blinking.] What kind of saying is that? No one wants to hurt the people they care about!
