[........This group hug just become 900% More Dangerous with the addition of X-23 to the mix. :| But of course, it's an "order" from someone she knows and sort-of trusts, so she doesn't resist.]

[...Well, he's definitely not gonna try and make her do anything, and he knows how she can take things Way Too Srsly, so.]

X~. [pronounced with that obnoxious draw-out, like "Eeeeeeex |D"] I really didn't know you cared!

[....Just. Iconfais. And more ellipses. And since she is not all that familiar with hugs in general, and still sort-of lacks a sense of...personal space thanks to being an experiment to be poked and prodded by strangers on a regular basis for years and years, she doesn't move away from him yet. She'll take her cues from Spidey in this.

Does she care? Laura doesn't really know...though she thinks that maybe she might. She does know the idea of Spider-Man being attacked makes her want to pop her claws and defend him, which must count for something.]

Ya know, I'm totally flattered just by you showing and all, so if a hug's a little high on the "Best Ways To Sign My Own Death Warrant" list, I am completely cool with respecting that.

[said with 100% cheer, too]

I do not mind.

[...Of course, not minding doesn't really make things any less awkward. Still, she's people-watched enough that she can manage a passable hug...probably...]

...Oh, what the hey-- [Plus he's always up for helping the emotionally stunted become... well, less emotionally stunted. And goodness knows Laura is pretty much the representative of that end of the spectrum.

So. OKAY. Here goes.

...Heeeere goes.

Yep, just gonna. Put an arm around her shoulders in a very comrade-y manner--

oh, shoot, C'MERE, YOU]

[Her eyes might widen the barest fraction at that honest, purely-friendly embrace, and for a moment she just stands there unmoving. Then her own arms come up and she (a little hesitantly, it's true) returns the embrace--very lightly at first, then more firmly, copying Spidey.

It feels...pleasant. Surprisingly so.]

[Not wanting to linger too long, but having the common sense not to withdraw too quickly, he lets her hug him for a few seconds before slowly pulling back, one friendly hand still on her shoulder.]

Not too sentimental, was it?

[She doesn't cling, of course, and she doesn't shrug his hand off either.]

No. I believe it was a successful demonstration of platonic affection.

[lol rhetorical question, wut dat]

[Humor issues, Spidey. Humor issues.] Oh. Well. Right. Good. It's always a positive thing to have a certain degree of comfort between partners, after all.

[Laura just looks at him expressionlessly for a space of time--just long enough for things to feel a little awkward for normal people, or at least people with decent social skills. Then she tilts her head slightly, the sole indication of curiosity. He'd said "partners"...]

...Is there a mission that you require my assistance to complete?

...Oh -- uh. No. I just meant it in that... y'know. "Once buddies, always buddies" kind of way.

[Her eyes drop as she withdraws a bit into herself to consider that.]

...I see.

[She thinks she does, maybe. Though she can come up with few enough reasons for Spider-Man to want her around outside of missions.

Judging by his scent, he is still a little nervous, a little edgy around her, but he certainly sounds sincere, and his body language does not indicate dishonesty. And since she's decided to trust him, Laura chooses to believe that he means what he said.]

We are...friends.

[...And that means Spidey gets added to her list of 'people worth dying for'...which is actually longer than one would first think.]

[Yeah, he's sensing some kind of... "breakthrough," here, if you will, but you'd never know it.]

Yep! Dynamics aside, I reckon fighting side-by-side against hordes of genetic monstrosities kicked us up a notch.

I do not understand why the identity of the enemy made any difference in this situation.

Because they were zombies, X! That's on the same level as Nazis and maybe vampires -- the latter depending on the source.

Zombies are just considered a whole different breed of trial. Once you've taken out a bunch of those guys together, you can do anything.
