Today's Jeff's memorial. He was this awesome old guy (read: just shy of 60 years old) who worked at the Vet Hospital where I do. Met the guy the first day I went in for my interview (although I used to volunteer as a kid there), he trained me for the job. And he was wicked awesome, the guy used to be a bronco bullrider and a rock band roadie.
He died two weeks ago, had had a heart attack the week before and just...never woke up.
I was surprised at how much that rocked me.
So today, in...13.5 hours, I'm going to the first memorial of my life, and it's his.
Don't know if that had anything to do with the fact that my attempt at a fic just now ended up entirely different than I had planned. It was supposed to be gritty and about war, nothing to do with Cain, at all. I'm mid study of the Civil War in U.S. History, and we were learning about battlefield conditions and listening to letters of soldiers and generals (including Jeb Stuart, who I only thought of 'JEB!').

Oh, on an unrelated note...the Paper Kingdom I was thinking of? It was from Xanth. I need to go back and check out if that was where I got the Clockwork Kingdom in part from. And there was a Dainty China Kingdom? Where a Princess exclaims that she's afraid of getting broken because nothing is as beautiful once it's been repaired.
I should hope for Az's (and a good deal of ours') sake(s) that that isn't true.
memorials,
fic gone awry,
