Has anyone every used the site LegalZoom.com for their name change?
My therapist suggested it to me-but I'm cautious about it.

But it really looks like a waste of money. After all, the forms are pretty easy to find, and they usually have checklists of things that are required either on the forms or in the instructions from where you download the forms. I would check your state or county court's website for instructions rather than paying for (what looks like) the same information.

Well here's the issue. I went to the Clerk of Court to get name change information and she told me that I had to get an attorney. Which I never saw on any government sites at all. And if I do have to get an attorney that will cost me tons more than if I just go to website and have it filed there. Of course, if I print out the paper work myself and do all the criteria myself, then it won't hurt will it?

I signed up with them once, but they charged quite a bit of money, so I didn't use them. They still spam me.

Curious as to where you are? There are TG law projects in various places in the country that can help for relatively low cost.

Hmmm, normally I'd point to the IFGE website but they have evidently removed their resources page. Look for GLBT law groups as well as check with the local Bar assn. and see if anyone is looking to do pro bono work.
