We need stories!

Share your story!

I am in the process of starting to write a book in which transgender people share their experiences.

So, if you are willing to share, I would love to hear your personal
stories. You can choose to write about whatever you want....

- your life story
- how you felt growing up
- how you identify....FTM? MTF? trans? gender queer? none of ( Read more... )

Sounds like a great idea.

I assume you are including MTF stories too?

Do you have a deadline?

At this point I don't have a deadline. I didn't know how much of a response I would get. However I would like to see if I can get enough gathered in the next month or two. Any after that point can go into updating the book or into a second volume.

I would be glad to accept MTF stories as well. I haven't been really pushing for them, but I probably should be. I was thinking of doing a separate MTF book later on, but maybe I should consider including both in this first one.

This project is still evolving in my mind as I receive submissions, so thank you for your questions.

Thanks!

I would recommend doing both. As an woman who is pretty active in ftm circles I feel like we all have something to learn from the other edge of the non-existent binary. My partner and I are going "opposite" directions and we have learned a ton from each other throughout the evolution of our identities.

Transmen's voices have been traditionally silenced by our culture at large, and Transwomen's voices have been ridiculed, distorted and largely ignored as well. It's not that transwomen are over-represented , it's that they are a favorite tool in the stand up comedian's belt.

I think we have a movement to build and a lot of legal battles to fight together, so we should start reminding ourselves we have more in common than we have differences.

Thanks for your response. You have a really good point. I definitely do want to include the everyone all along the gender spectrum in this project. Thank you for helping me realize this.

how you identify....FTM? trans? gender queer? none of the above?

Transwoman invisibility getting a bit overt these days, eh?

I by no means meant to exclude transwomen. I run a program that provides binders to transguys who can't afford new ones. This project started by me asking for submissions from those who who visited my site...who happened to be primarily guys.

Now that I see the kind of response I am getting I definitely want to broaden this project to include anyone and everyone who does not identify 100 percent with their birth sex.

Thats a great service! I like to sew and I want to someday provide free or at cost harnesses and packing undies.

Probably when I'm retired and have time to sew all the time.

Please edit this post and change the font size and colour back to normal, and add an lj-cut. Right now your formatting is hard to read and disruptive to the community and people's friends pages.

Also, 'Transgender' includes MTF-spectrum as well as FTM-spectrum folks. If you're compiling stories only from FTM-spectrum people, you need to be clear about that. If you want to hear from MTF-spectrum folks as well, you need to include them when you say things like 'how you identify ... FTM? trans? gender queer? none of the above?'
