****VALENTINES CHALLENGE****
Well it's that time of year again you either love, love to hate or are somewhere in the middle of indifference. Valentines day will soon be upon us so my fellow mods and I have decided to throw you a challenge if you're up for it!
Now we know Valentines day is all about schmoopy love and romance and chocolates and cards and presents and stuff, right? Wrong!
We want something different.
Your prompt is: STAR CROSSED LOVERS
Think Romeo and Juliet, Pyramus and Thisbe, Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, Lancelot and Guinevere, Tristan and Isolde to name but a few. There are many more. Google it.
YOUR CHALLENGE
For your challenge we want fic, it can be any verse, any characters, any rating you like, even an AU or pre-war fic if the urge grabs you. We want a story of love and loss, sacrifice and tragedy. We're not saying you can't give them a happy ending, that is entirely up to you, but we want our lovers to work for their love. Throw obstacles in their path, another suiter usurping their efforts, challenges to overcome, you can make it as angsty and as tragic as you like. Make us cry! If you can ;)
To make it a little more difficult we would like you to use in any way you see fit the plot device of a dream. It can be a premonition, a dream they're convinced was real, a waking dream, can be anything as long as you include a DREAM.
YOUR DO'S AND DON'TS (aka THE RULES)
There will be a vote once the challenge is closed. We will aim to get the poll up around the 2nd of March (we mods have RL so please be patient). All members of the comm are allowed to vote even if you did not enter.
We have on offer a selection of prizes ranging from a sexy Megatron poster signed by the artist, to previous years' Botcon goodies. kindly donated by antepathy. There will be only one winner (tie breaks will be decided by the mods) and the winner will get to choose their prize. A participation icon will be made for every entrant.

- No OCs. Only canon characters are welcome for this challenge. Be creative, there's a lot of source material out there.
- No mpreg - for this fic we're not looking for knocked up and abandoned there's plenty of that around. We want the story to be about the lovers and their trials and tribulations. There's more than enough angst right there.
- You have a minimum word count of 500 words. If you don't meet the word count, you're not eligible to be entered into the voting at the end.
- DEADLINE: 01 March 2012 20:00 GMT. Entries after this date will not be eligible.
- If your fic contains explicit scenes of sexual nature you put it behind that f lock. If you're unsure how to ASK, we don't bite.
- Standard comm. rules apply: header, rating, characters, warnings, tags etc.
- Please tag your entry with: challenge: valentines 2012 (entries without the appropriate tag will not be entered into the voting - it's easy enough to add (or again ask if you're a first time poster and aren't sure)).
- HAVE FUN writing it. That's why we're in fandom, right?
- Anon entries are welcome. (Anon commenting is not).
