Title: Variations on a Theme: 3 mornings the Sentry never awoke to
Fandom: Marvel Comics' The Sentry
Warning: Death, sexuality, general pervertedness

I.

The Sentry awoke to find his dead wife laying across his arm, grown cold and stiff in the night. Screaming, he rolled Lindy over and futiley sought a pulse. Handprints on her neck matching his hands, black and blue bruises. When he pried her eyes open, Lindy looked dead at him, and he saw his reflection in her pupil, a laughing face.

II.

The Sentry awoke to find a shadow making love to him.

"Ah, ah," Robert cried, crying out everything but the name of God; even he could not be so profane. Tendrils wrapped around him, crushing him, igniting every nerve in his body.

"I'm with you," whispered the Void, his serpent's tongue tickling Robert's ear.

"Forever," whispered the Void, covering Robert's mouth so his cries could not be heard.

"That's a promise," whispered the Void, letting them both back up for air. Robert's body strained beneath him, arching his back like a cat, ripping through the sheets with his nails, and when release found them it was not enough, never enough. The bed crashed down around them, along with the world, the mirror shattered and time seemed to skip backwards six seconds.

"Void," Robert gasped.

"Sentry," Robert gasped.

III.

The Sentry awoke to find a black shape beside him in the bed, obscured by the early morning light. In an instant he had pounced, pinning the Void beneath him, choking him. "I hate you, I hate you," he said. "Die, just die." Suffer, and die, and never return.

Too late, he saw that the face beneath him belonged to Robert Reynolds, and that his own hands were black and inky.
