http://news.aol.com/business/story/_a/undercover-video-sparks-beef-recall/20080217183209990001#cmntbgn my own two cents in the comments part:
There is nothing wrong with eating animals. There is something horrendously wrong and sadistic with raising animals in cages, feeding them horrible food, injecting them with ridiculous amounts of hormones and slaughtering them in ways only someone criminally insane could think up. Factory farms are in no way the same thing as a predator prey relationship. Lions don't hold their prey hostage their entire lives, feed them things that make them sick and dysfunctional, and then subject them to an incomprehensible excruciating death. They make their kill swiftly and just.
Raising animals for the sole function of meat consumption in the way I have just described is the most cowardly and inhumane way someone could go about eating meat. And sorry to break the illusion to you all but this is a standard procedure. The meat and dairy industry we have today would collapse without these practices.
The funny thing is, this beef recall is totally unnecessary when you realize that all meat is produced this way. People are just freaking out because "Oh dear, we can actually see it now! Make it go away!"
Fucking assholes.
