The other day, I got my last issue of Dragon, #359. I've been a subscriber now for about 6 years, getting a lot of good stuff out of them, and Dungeon for about 4 years with similar results. Wizards of the Coast has pulled the license.

Last night, I went to the D&D site to try to find some big charts for a Rod of Wonder for my game; I was treated instead to a countdown of about 19 hours with the label "4dventure." *sigh*

Apparently, there was a 4th edition forum up for a while, and people managed to catch a bunch of 'spoilers'. It seems the 4th edition players handbook will come out in May 2008. Mind you, 3rd edition came out August 2000, literally just before I left SU. So in *less* than 8 years, a new edition will come out. Not to mention the re-purchase that most (many?) people made in 2003, less than 5 years ago.

Evidently, they're going to be allowing 3rd party publishers to buy a license to publish 4e stuff. And fans can publish on gleemax (Whee!), but in doing so they give wizards the right to re-publish. And OGL/D20 licenses will still exist in some manner...

Needless to say, I am sorely disappointed with WotC right now. I know it's probably Hasbro's decision, but still. At this point in time, WotC has lost my business. I'm not saying I will never buy another product from them, but at this point, I don't have any intention to.

I know, anyone who cares about this probably already knows, but I had to complain, and what is this if not a place to complain?
