We're closing tomorrow, right. Like about 13 hours from now.
Well, around 3 today, I got the bright idea to check in with the mortgage company to ensure that personal checks are still ok, like they were the last times we paid for things. "No, we need a certified or bank check." Great. So I ask how much. "Uh, I'll have to check with Rhodina. You leave at 4 today? She'll call you by then."
Fast forward until 4 o'clock. No call from them yet, so I call again. "Oh, yeah. I was on the phone with the lender. It seems tomorrow is a holiday and they won't be able to wire the money so I'm trying to get them to cut a check for you today. What was it you needed?" So I say I need to know how much to get the cert'd check for. She says she'll call me at home with that info.
I go home, and I try to call banks. If they can't wire the money tomorrow, who knows if my bank is open. Well, they're all closed for the day. I run out of time, and go pick Suz up. We stop at a branch just to check, and there's a sign on the door. "Closed veterans day."
So apparently, even though they knew we were new at this whole home buying thing and had no clue what was going on, they didn't bother to tell us to get a certified check until it was impossible to do so. I don't know if we're going to be able to do this thing tomorrow because they might not have the money. And I don't know if they'll take a personal check or find some other way to get our money.
This sucks. I'm going to bed.
