Christmas 2010, chosen family and their extended family.

Dec 25, 2010 22:46

I spent this year again in the splendid company of
prk and
amarillion at
amarillion's family Christmas, me and K and Cam and the whole bucket load of her family :)

We arrived early as we usually do, and helped out in the kitchen and caught up on the year past and spent time, I made white sauce and custard and gravy, K used the custard to make trifle and also carved the entire meat selection.

I have always felt welcomed in here, and it struck me today that this family gathering is deeply appreciated by us, it is like our chosen family's extended family... and I love that idea.

I had a wonderful relaxed day with people I care about and on the 2nd we'll have Yum Cha with Cam's family which will also be deeply awesome.

We're all tired and pleasantly full, have lounged this afternoon lazily digesting and watching foxtel (mythbusters, barramundi doco and the simpsons), since we got home we've been game playing or internetting in pleasant silence.

I'm not big at all on Christmas itself... but as someone who spends a lot of time in the midst of generating or appreciating connection, I delight in watching so many other people doing so consciously and deliberately and generously. It's deeply rewarding for me.

I still struggle inordinately with the whole gift giving thing so very much.
