Well, apparently I've been tagged by some meme by mesembria, so I have to give 6 facts. Prepare thyself.
1. I'm obsessed with efficiency. One might even say that I worship it. I don't accept that there can be a "right" way to do things that isn't also the most efficient way to do those things, optimizing for some factor. This applies to all things, including communication. You'll find if you talk to me that I try to make sure that every term is stringently defined, and I'm one of those people who will irritate you by clarifying and then correcting you.
2. I'm retired from romance. A non-practicing heterosexual. I did a cost/benefit analysis on the idea of trying to attract a mate, and discovered that given my requirements, and the resources at my disposal to attract said person, the chance of success came to somewhere approaching 0%. I'm a logical person, and thus I made the choice to swear off the concept of romance altogether.
3. I believe in absolute brutal honesty. I believe that there is no time that one should tell a little white lie, or any lie in general, even a lie of omission. This ties into #1, since I believe both that the most efficient flow of information must be maintained, as well as believing that additional information can only lead to a more efficient course of action.
4. I absolutely hate meeting new people in person. It's not just that I feel uncomfortable, it's that it's gotten to the point where I actually truly loathe it. You know that guy at parties who always looks at least vaguely uncomfortable, who refuses to meet anyone's eyes for fear they'll come talk to him, and who tries to help out in order to have an excuse not to be talking to anyone? Yo.
5. I believe that there is absolutely no benefit to expecting the best out of life. I've found that planning for the best means you end up off-balance a lot, and I hate being off-balance. I prefer to be in perfect control of my situation whenever possible. Thus, I'm a firm believer that you should always expect the worst possible thing to happen at any given moment, and plan accordingly. That way, if something better happens, it's a nice surprise, and you'll still have planned to have control.
6. Despite the cynical view in number 5, I'm actually an idealist. The difference is, I have no faith in humanity, so I don't think that anyone will ever be able to conform to the tenets of my idealism. I see everything as being x or being y. There's no middle ground. I try to avoid shades of grey as much as possible.
And there you have it. The 6 facts that you really didn't want to know, and probably wish you hadn't asked for. I'm looking at you here, mesembria.
