deardotti came over last night and she cooked and we watched High School Musical (so bad it was bad-good) and generally had fun.
She made peanut sauce from Vegan With a Vengeance:
2 teaspoons peanut oil (she used canola, I think)
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons minced ginger
1 cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon ground coriander
2/3 cup smooth all-natural peanut butter
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons rice vinegar (she used another kind, can’t remember which)
2 teaspoons Asian chile sauce (used red chili paste instead, probably more than 2 tsp)
She also added in some plum wine for sweetness. So good. I’m having the leftovers with buckwheat noodles and stir-fried bok choy right now. And I’ve spent much of the past three days subsisting on brownies (and wheat free ones, at that!). Mmmmmfood.
Also, my birthday was amazing. I was sick for it, but I still had a fantastic time, thanks to my wonderful friends and the neverending greatness that is Cafe Gratitude. I have pictures but won’t be posting any for awhile because my computer’s about to be shipped off to HP for repairs because apparently there are issues with my motherboard. (Again. Same thing that happened to my last computer. GRAH.) I got such great presents, yay! And my birthday pie absolutely lived up to its name and was hugely blissful. How can you go wrong with chocolate and hazelnut, really?
The guy who came over from the Geek Squad was really nice and really helpful, which was a pleasant surprise considering how annoying most people I’ve gone to for help with technology have been in the past. Although he advised me never to use Norton again, which makes me sad, because I’m paid up on it for another two years. :(
My mom has been on a big sewing binge and sewed me a new cot-like pad for my bed. And then she took away the other one to do something mysterious with it, and my back is killing me. I think I got really used to the hardness of sleeping on the floor.
Also. The bamboo plant on my desk is now in a big, shiny glass vase, filled with lovely rocks and water. It is pretty and I will have to take pictures. ♥
I like that I have two jobs but hardly ever work. I keep thinking that I should find a third one, but I have little to no inclination to work more, as is my wont. Finishing up my thesis would be a better idea, anyway. *headdesk*
And on that cheerful note: until next time, my friendly space cadets,
Sheera
