REPORT: Contagion Containment Dept. Search

[ooc: If your character is/wants to be on Science Team and assisted Luis in cleaning out the Contagion department, feel free to handwave it so they did. They can also feel free to help him answer questions about specific zombie-causing agents, since he's most familiar with the RE-verse ones (the alphabet viruses and Las Plagas.) If you need to ask me anything about this, the AIM's FullArmoredGG]

Science Team undertook an afternoon of searching and cleaning out the Contagion Containment department, AKA the third and previously inaccessible laboratory in the Medical Hall. The place is sterilized and free of anything creepy or crawly and we've gotten a chance to see what's in here.

As the name might suggest, this place is a highly sophisticated biochemistry lab, kind of like the one I was hoping would be around here somewhere. It contains so much equipment I'm not even sure what it all does yet, as well as a functional quarantine area with a number of sterile cells. Naturally, there's also a large amount of research reports and data in here.

Our predecessors were up to some serious shit.

It seems that they were in the business of collecting biological weapons in the form of mutagenic viruses (T-Virus, Rage Virus), parasites (Las Plagas), fungi (splinters), Flood and "all that jazz." In an attempt to find something that could stop the Ohm, they performed a variety of experiments with each of these pathogens. Using the ship's dimension-hopping capabilities, they picked up specimens to work with and from which to draw new pathogens to experiment on.

Unfortunately, in all of their meddling with nature and attempting to play God, they made a mistake (as people who meddle with nature and attempt to play God are wont to do) and realized they ran the risk of infecting the entire ship. They put a stop to the experiments, destroyed what specimens they could and locked the rest up in quarantine, shutting down the entire department and turning it into Pandora's Box, waiting and ready for angry AIs to unleash on the rest of the ship.

There are still secured samples of these pathogens locked up here in the contagion department, but along with them are healthy doses of any available vaccines or treatments. It looks like our predecessors at least had the foresight to keep first aid on hand. Those pathogens that cannot be treated or have no available vaccine have research documents attached to their names, and I imagine there is information on any progress as far as curing them goes as well. I'll be able to go into more specifics when I sit down and dig through all this garbage.

In the meantime, I'd like to ask Command Staff for permission to utilize the Contagion Department as headquarters for Science Team and implement its use as a full-time biochemistry laboratory. This will keep people like myself out of the way in med bay and help increase efficiency.

If you have any specific questions about this information, feel free to contact me or any of the other members of Science Team. Now you all have a lovely day.
