No Pain, No Gain ((Open like an open thing~))

Nate had somehow managed to keep to himself for the majority of the time he'd been on the ship. Quietly observing the other occupants, he'd begun to takes notes. Mental notes of course, since he wasn't quite able to find a recording device of any kind just yet, but notes nonetheless. It seemed that even on the ship there were those whose attitudes ( Read more... )

Samus was in the mood for a bit of training herself. Recently, she had been practicing mission scenarios by herself in the Sensoriums and had been ignoring any purely physical aspects of her training. When she entered the Sensoriums and found a gym, it was a good reminder of what she was neglecting.

She figured the younger occupant wouldn't mind sharing the space for a little while.

Nate barely gave the woman a second glance. He'd seen her around one or twice and gathered that she was the leader of one of the away teams. It didn't really matter to him. He finished off his set, and dropped to the floor for his next twenty second rest.

Now that he wasn't lifting his own bodyweight up by his arms, he gave Samus a brief nod.

Samus just gives him a nod back. She didn't know who the other person was, but she really didn't care. She just wanted to get on with her training. She was never much of a conversationalist, and she wasn't about to start any small talk.

She would not, however, hesitate to give training tips or corrections if she saw fit.

Finishing his chin-ups, he dropped to the ground to rest for a bit, reaching for a bottle of water. His eyes follwed her absently-mindedly as she went through her workout regime, mentally calculating her capabilities the best he could. He didn't like the answer.

He moved to a treadmill next, setting the speed rather high and starting his run.

Cassie had been avoiding the Sensoriums. But now that she no longer felt (very) tempted to talk to a simulated version of her dad, she figured she was safe.

Cassie entered the Sensorium with the intention of creating an obstacle course similar to the ones they would use at the Initiative. Maybe she could even ask Stacy to make simulated civilians to rescue rather than having to save dummies.

She forgot all about that the moment she saw Iron La- er, Nathaniel.

"Oh."

Nate had just dropped to the ground for his next twenty second rest when he saw that girl. What was he name again? Cassie. That was it. He was going to simply ignore her and hope she left, but when his eyes raised to her face, he couldn't help the feeling that he knew her, and that he'd known her long before coming here. As the strange recognition welled up inside him, an equally strange mixture of expressions flashed across his face, before he shook his head, looking away.

He'd never met her before this place. She was simply deranged... right?

"Hello." He said it without thought. So much for his plan to ignore her.

Cassie might have walked out and left Nathaniel alone- she might have if she hadn't seen that brief look on his face. It made her insides twist into knots.

"I- Nathaniel," She walked over to him.

Why did he have to be working out? All that glistening sweat he looked so...

Cassie did her best to crush those thoughts.

The twenty seconds was up, but seeing as she was walking toward him, he'd not grabbed the bar again. There went his workout, he sighed mentally. Not that it would make too much of a difference, but he hated having his plans disrupted.

"It was Cassie, correct?" He simply sat, watching her as she walked nearer.

She looked fresh, and much better than the last time he had seen her. He was glad of that, nearly smiling. But then the question of why he cared rose in his mind. He didn't know this girl. And his only experience with her had been unpleasant so far. So again...why did he care?

Tony ducked into the sensoriums, thinking of the last time he'd ducked in to one unexpectedly. That had ended well for him and he couldn't quite keep the grin from spreading across his face, because things like that don't happen often. And Kate was just... Kate. Infatuation, crush, whatever you wanted to call it, he was on an emotional high - and oh, look, a gym.

And a kid he hadn't met before doing chin-ups. Huh. Well, he wasn't going to interrupt. Instead, he headed over to the weights to do some sets. Yeah, he might be able to throw around cars when he was a wolf, but getting stronger couldn't hurt - plus it burned calories and killed time.

Seeing another person step into the gym, Tony gave him a brief nod over the bar, and continued his workout, thankfully he didn't have many more sets to go. When he was done, he dropped to the floor, taking a seat on a bench and reaching for a water bottle.

Tony just pumps iron for a bit (really, though, it was never his thing), then does some stretches, a few push-ups, some pull-ups - stuff to keep him reasonably in shape. As he finishes, he wanders over and offers the other kid his hand, "Hey, haven't seen you 'round here - you new? M'Tony, but I also go by Plays-in-Traffic."

A pause, "Or just Plays," he shrugs, "Either one works."
