Gods could be too arrogant. Such was the case of SHODAN, who had turned the Pods into a nightmarish zone where she could freely amuse herself and torture those that had come here

Level 4 - City LevelthesystemshockDecember 30 2011, 02:05:50 UTC
The City was huge and wide. There were many power dampers and it might take time to undo them all. Crewmen scrambled from one area into another, sometimes powered up by the ones that had been cleared, sometimes suddenly finding themselves powerless again.
It was going to make for an interesting battle--hey what was that sound of bells in the air?

After her whole affair with Splicer and seeing the pod deaths, she just wanted to kick SHODAN's ass no matter what. Mitochondria powers or not, Aya had a crowbar in one hand and her gun in the other. That plus the grenades around her belt meant that she was going to find as many power dampers around The City as she could and use pure brute force to disable them. And hopefully collect something that was like scalped robot skulls as keepsakes.
Aya spotted one of the power dampers. Or what seemed to be it anyway. She raised the crowbar over her head and with an all mighty clang, just began thrashing it as best as she could.
"Allow me, mamzel." A huge, growling voice that sounds rather metallic itself is approaching Aya from behind, coming from a black-armored man with scarred armor, a HUGE sword, and a significantly large pistol as well. The being itself stands some 8 feet tall, and looks pretty mechanical too, but it doesn't hold itself like any of the robots she's seen thus far. And there is a pugnacious stance to the being, even the war-robots don't spoil for a fight quite as much as a hot-blooded (and sometimes thick skulled) Son of Dorn.
The guy had a bigger sword. She stepped aside to give the stranger a clear pathway to the core of the power damper. Aya had taken off some of the outer shell with the crowbar. SHODAN didn't make these things particularly easy to destroy, but she didn't care at this point. She was going to destroy them.
Erhart nods, and reaches to his belt, pulling off a large round device, and says to Aya, "I suggest you take a few steps back. The Krak grenade has a fairly small blast radius, but this will produce shrapnel."
He turns back to the Power dampener, mag-clamping the explosive charge onto it a moment later. Erhart stands by after that, Steadfast, a wall of sorts for Aya to use to avoid getting hurt by the shrapnel.
She obediently takes a couple of steps back when Erhart indicates for her to do so. Was that enough? Another one for extra measure. The grenade intrigued her though and despite everything, was wide eyed as she kept an eye for the charge to detonate.
"Let 'er rip, I'm good. I want to see how much firepower that thing has."
He turns his back on the charge, which detonates with a loud CRUMP, casting spalling metal shards over his shoulder. It bursts with enough force to bifurcate a tank. He looks down at her, flexing his fists a few times, and says, "It has enough for the task at hand. I am Erhart Ritter. Knight of the Eternal Crusade. Let us take the fight to Shodan together."
He draws his sword, which crackles to life with an actinic blue charge.
"Not bad." she remarked after the explosion cleared, grateful that she had kept her distance. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Aya Brea. No fancy titles here sadly but I'll gladly lend you my gun and my instincts. Oh, and my powers when they come back."
Aya takes out her own gun and yes, she was feeling just a bit jealous over the sword glowing blue in Erhart's hands but she had a crowbar. That was good enough for her. Maybe she could get a lightsaber from the armory or something when this was all over.
"The next one is approximately 100 meters ahead. These dampers were placed in clusters to increase their overall power in an area. When you find one, you find the rest. Just a matter of finding the first one to begin with."
Without another moment's hesitation, Aya began moving forward to where she believed the next dampener. However her progress was halted by a line of robots heading towards them and she raised her gun, letting loose a volley of bullets to clear a way through. She had enough of these impeding her progress.
Erhart accompanies her pistol fire with a thunderous volley from his own bolt pistol, micro-rockets hurtling towards the robots and shattering through some of them, coring and bursting within them. "We can break through if we push now, they are not particularly accurate." He comments, as a super battle droid punches shot after shot into his chest plastron and shoulder pauldrons before being destroyed by another blast from the bolter.
What Aya wasn't hitting with her bullets was being hit by some force from the crowbar. Erhart was right, they weren't accurate at all. Just masses of inconsequential metal. Aya could see the dampener right in front of her and as she shot another few droids into oblivion, she called out over her shoulder.
"Got anymore of those charges Erhart? I think they'd be useful right now!"
The wave was relentless, but needless to say if the dampener was destroyed then there would be respite.
He moves forward, clutching the charge in his left hand as he dispatches the shambling machines with almost desultory fire from his bolt pistol.
He clamps on the charge, then backs away, prepared to make his stand, and provide Aya some cover, laser bolts tearing across his ceramite armor in mad streaks.
Aya of course, is grateful for the cover that he provides. When she's in a safe position, she decimates a few more robots with her some gunfire. Keep them from getting too close. Enjoyment was a large part of this - as much as she didn't want to admit she liked her mitochondrial powers, she felt completely decimated without them.
"We're not the only ones in The City, I think if we find one more dampener then this area's clear." said Aya over the gunfire.
"Then let us cleanse this place with bolter and blade, faith and fire, zeal and choler. Let none of these abominations escape to harm our companions elsewhere!"
If nothing else, Erhart is a man for speeches as he fights, roaring this even as he abandons firing the pistol, holstering it as he wades two handed into the metallic horde with murderous ferocity.
"Hey, you're pretty good." She can live with the verbosity, it's an area that she wouldn't say was her best but Erhart's speech pretty much was all her sentiments in one. It's the kind of speech you'd want to hear when the odds are against you, or just need a morale boost. So Aya's got a bit more spark in her step, metal fragments flying everywhere as she laid waste to their enemies.
Erhart doesn't respond, saving his breath for swordplay as he engages a Magna guard in a lightning duel that lasts maybe 20 seconds in total, the spinning, arcing stave clashing several times with his sword, briefly being knocked to his knees before rising into a shoulder-smash that flattens the Magnaguard, finishing it with a brutal downward stab before it can rise from the knockdown. He halts, a second later, a brief respite from the flow of battle.
"We must find the last of the dampeners quickly. That alone will turn the tide. "
ROW ROW FIGHT THE okay no [Open]zouichiDecember 30 2011, 03:36:25 UTC
Zouichi was on his bike and on the move, streaking through the city at ludicrous speeds. He blazed by a cluster of robots, steering with one hand and snapping off quick shots with his gravity pistol with the other, seemingly without thought.
It was going to make for an interesting battle--hey what was that sound of bells in the air?
