There was only one destination in mind when the war started: work. Billy had dashed down to the transportation tubes, arriving on the first floor when he'd hit a snag: a robot swarm already assaulting the Med Bay and Special Weapons. But that wouldn't stop him: his coworkers and friends could be there, and the lab could easily hold the key to

A small wall slid open nearby where Billy was hiding and the familiar red head peeked her head outside, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
"This isn't where you, *yawns* test weapons at... You'll g-get in trouble..." Of course she said it to no one in particular, not realizing what was going on.

Even in the middle of a war---no, especially in the middle of a war, Billy's consciousness tended to focus on her when she was nearby. He shifted to face her while rigging what was becoming the base of a blast shield.
"We're all in enough trouble already. There's a war going on," he explained tersely, twisting a bolt into place.

"No, it's happening right this second. An evil AI's taken over. We've lost our powers and most of our strength. Robots are swarming the ship and trying to kill us. They're just outside!"
He shifted over at his position in front of the blast shield, offering her a spot to help, though he worried too. There was sadness and fear. How bad would this be for her?

Her brow narrowed as she flinched a bit at a stray shot the bounced off nearby making a loud bang.
Peeking around to check the enemy, she looked to Billy determined.
"If you can get me to my work area, I might have something to help us fight back."

Either way, he outstretched his hand as his other reached for a scrap of shield. Wherever they went, it was together.

With that, she followed close to him, thankful for the efforts of the others there.

He watched the doorway anxiously, yanking and yelping whenever he saw shots start to come too close. They ducked and ran, skidding to a stop in front of her workstation.
Billy prepared his hands to grab immediately. "You're in charge here. What am I taking?"

Without waiting for an answer, Ronnae crawled over to her large storage room behind her workstation and began to fiddle with her security locks.
She didn't have to look back, she trusted him beyond anything and knew he'd keep her safe and was confident in his skills to stay unharmed and safe himself.
So with peace of mind she worked unabated to get the items inside.

He crouched into position partially behind a crate, shooting at the hostile robots he saw. It was tense but fairly routine for a few moments, until something got way too close.
"No!"
On instinct, he slammed his body into a pile of crates, breaking several things and creating an impromptu wall between Ronnie and the gunfire. It was enough to slow it down. He cursed as splinters dug into him and shot, hollering over the sound of the guns.
"If we survive this, will you marry me?"

"I'll have to see what's left of you first before I answer that love~" she teased right as she undid the final lock. The storage room hissed as the pressurized locks gave way and she slid behind the small opening a moment later.
Some seconds later, she peeked out the side and took aim at the group closest to them.
"Catch~" she called out as she lobbed a magnetized bomb into the middle of that group, attaching itself to one of them and ticking down.
A few seconds later, a bright, blue, contained explosion occurred in a small radius, disabling the robots in it's affected area.

Billy shoved himself back over the crates, ducking next to Ronnae as the explosion went off. Good. The signals were jammed, and they were safe for now.
"That was perfect," he admired, thrilled that they were both intact and by the cleverness of her weapon. "Is there more where that came from?"

With that in mind, he picked a spot at the crate-pile for cover and went right back to shooting. "I'll drive them off this way. They might come from further too."

With that, she disappeared into the storage room once more and the sounds of things moving around could be heard.

Billy found himself face to face with the advancing army, shooting at them from whatever cover he could find. It went well for a few minutes, until a little one broke through his crate and struck him across the chest with an arm. He only had a second before he was shot in the heart.
"Do---you want some fries?" With strength he wasn't sure he had, he viciously jammed a hand into the circuitry and ripped, causing a storm of sparks and bloodying his hand in the process. It was disabled, finally, and he was left to roll behind an overturned metal desk. That should be stabler, at least.
