Two scenarios here, pick your poison!

--
In the Hangar...Sometime after podpop and the chaos that went with it, Simon found himself down in the hangar. He'd scrounged up a couple of rags, and some soap and water - Gurren and Lagann were here, but they were in good need of a cleaning. Well. More of a dusting and polishing, but if he's gonna go to ( Read more... )

More humans. Of course this ship was infested with them like a plague of insects but, oh, the things Alendian dealt with. She was visiting the hangar for the sole purpose of seeing the ships in it. A part of her hoped there were Eldar fighting ships just for familiarity's sake but no luck.

She walked by the two gaudy looking machines and, more importantly, the person cleaning them. Yeah, those machines needed a new paint job, she thought has she peered up at the big one.

"...why?"

At the question, Simon looked over at Alendian, blinking confusedly for a few moments. "...uh. Why what?" It was a pretty vague question, after all - and Simon's no mind-reader.

Though to be fair, given Gurren's appearance, that is a valid response.

"Why is it so ugly?" The more she looks at it, the less she's surprised. It's definitely a human creation.

For a moment, Simon stared at Alendian, then back up at Gurren, then looked back at the woman. "...I, uh. Personally think it looks cool, myself. Kinda scary, but for a machine built for fighting, being intimidating is helpful."

"That." She points up at it. "That is not scary. Perhaps a young human would be scared but any sensible foe would not find that frightening."

Simon shrugs a bit. "Guess a lot of the folks we fought weren't sensible, then - but then again, the effect was more in the presentation and display of power that made it a symbol of something to be feared by those that opposed us."

"If that works for you." Then again, humans seemed to run from battle from simple orks so perhaps it would be decent enough for what he did. "I think the faceless anger of a Wraithlord would be far better."

That got a scowl out of Simon. "Can't say I -like- faceless machines after the ones I encountered back home, but they are rather intimidating when you're used to mechs having a face."

"Then my point is made." She smiles but it's an Eldar smile. One reeking of smugness.

That scowl turned back around into a chuckling smirk, however. "They tried a bunch of crazy 'absolute despair' tactics on us, too. We kept turning things back around, though."

"Human persistence. I am quite aware of that." They wouldn't stop invading her craftworld, even after horrible loses. Especially odd when they had the choice of simply blowing it into debris.

"Yeah, we're a pretty stubborn species once we set our minds to something, I'll admit." He seems rather proud of this fact.

"Do not pretend that is a good thing." Because it certainly wasn't in Alendian's mind.

"I don't - I know it's a good thing, otherwise my citizens, my species, we would have been needlessly wiped out..." A pause. "At least, before the Ohm happened."

Yeah. All that work to deal with the Anti-Spirals, to stop the moon from falling... For nothing.
