The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read

Once Simon had gotten settled into a plantsuit, along with Boota (Who was not happy with the thing, no sir), he'd recovered the things out of his locker - his Core Drill, his coat, and his goggles - all of which he was wearing as he strolled around the meet-and-greet area rather curiously while he reflected on what Miyako had told him in the pod chamber. "...save the galaxy, eh? Not too different from back home, I guess. Hope some of the other team guys are here..."

He couldn't help but worry about Nia, though.

"DOMOOOOOOOOOOOON! RAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!"

Yes, Allenby had completely given up on subtlety. She'd always known that Domon and the Shuffle Alliance were there in the pods, but actually seeing Domon, fighting him, it had been--well it had been something concrete. And if Stacy had fixed his avia for one day then probably he had been almost ready anyway, right?

Right?

RIGHT! And she wasn't going to waste any time just hoping to find 'em, she would make sure they knew she was there! Such was her thought when she spotted the guy with the coat and the furry thing, muttering something about saving the galaxy. "Not that different? You serious?" she asked, momentarily distracted from her quest.

The blue-haired girl's yelling got his attention - he figured she was looking for someone, though that was a pretty easy conclusion to draw. He wasn't expecting the question, though, and he nodded. "Ah, yeah... Was going off with some friends and a whole crew to fight an army before they could get to Earth."

Allenby's eyes widened. "No kiddin'! Man--that sucks. I dunno if there's any feeling worse than getting ready to save your home planet and finding out there wasn't any point..." She grimaced. "Or that we gotta do it all over again. But I won't let that be the end of it! And you won't either, right?"

While he had been calm, Allenby's words stirred something in him, putting a smirk on his face. "Hell no, I won't! It's just another roadblock, and if I'm good at anything, it's breaking down barriers that keep me from my goal! No matter how many stand in the way, they'll all burn to ash from Team Dai-Gurren's burning spirit!"

A pause, then he looked a little sheepish - and solemn. "...even if I'm the only member here."

"Yeah!" Allenby raised her fists in sympathetic hotbloodedness at Simon's declaration. They'd show the Ohm and the Daligig and even Stacy--and they'd restore Earth! Whatever timelines or lies were going on, there was a way and they would find it.

She grinned encouragingly. "That's okay--I'm the only Gundam Fighter around right now, if there aren't any new here. If your friends have your kinda spirit, it's a sure bet they're in the pods too!"

That lifted his spirits a bit, and got a nod from him. "Hope so. Though without our ships and robots, we're kind of up a creek..." Boota popped out, making a rather discouraged noise at that. "I can hold my own well enough in a fistfight, but I'm more at home in my Gunman." He peered at Allenby after a moment. "What's a Gundam? Some variety of Gunman, or...?"

"Your robot's probably in the Hangar right now! --Awww!" Allenby grinned at the fuzzy little thing that hopped onto Simon's shoulder. "Hey there, cutie!"

Right, right. Mechs! But her attention stayed on Boota as she explained. "A Gundam's a mobile fighter, which is sort of like a mobile suit, which is a big ol' machine shaped like a person that ya use to fight. Is a Gunman anything like that?"

Simon's eyes widened a bit at that prospect. "What, really? That's handy--" The attention got Boota to puff up a bit, his ego stroked very well. Ladies love the pigmole. Until he goes cleavage-diving if you're not Yoko.

"Ah, that's Boota - so I'm not completely alone." The pigmole made a noise of approval, nodding.

"Ah...Gunmen come in a lot of shapes and sizes, but their biggest feature is that they're pretty much a giant robot face. Mine's got two faces - one on the chest, and one on the head, since it's really two put together."

"Heh, at least you got one friend from home." It was unclear if she was addressing Simon or Boota then, but she turned her attention back to the human of the pair after that. "Hm... I never heard of a mech with a design like that before." A big face? How did you even fight in it?

Well, there was one really good way to find out. "You wanna head down to the Hangar now to see if it's there? I wanna get a look at this thing too!"

"I can't really see a robot without such a design... Seems like most everything back home had faces in the designs now that I think of it..." Except for Leeron's diagnostic robots, but the less said about Leeron's creepy toys the better.

Simon grinned a bit, then nodded. "Yeah, definitely!"

"Oh, a Gundam's got a face! But it's got the rest of the body too. Hah, it'd be weird to fight someone else using something that didn't have a proper face."

...another point against Zakus.

"Ok-ay, time for the tentacles again," she said, leading him to the opening. "The Hangar!"

Whoosh.

Even in context, 'time for the tentacles again' is unnerving no matter how nonchalant you say it.

Simon steps into the opening after Allenby, and follows suit.

Once he arrives, he wobbles a bit, shaking his head at the feeling of it. That's just plain weird.

Pretty much. YOU GET USED TO IT, SIMON. Probably.

She chuckled at the look on his face, but not mockingly. "It's real weird, ain't it? But you--well ya still notice it, but you stop havin' to nerve yourself up to go anywhere after a while.

She waved an arm around the Hangar. "Anyway, here we are! I don't think we have any other Gunmen around, so let's just wander around 'till we find it."

THAT JUST MAKES IT MORE UNNERVING.

Simon glanced back at the tubes, then set to following Allenby. "Definitely going on the list of most awkward things I've took part in, for sure."

He nodded, glancing around at the various robots and ships with some wonder. "Shouldn't be too hard, it tends to stand out. Red, black, and gold. Pointed black sunglasses on the chest..."

"Sunglasses? Hey, it sounds like this thing has style," Allenby said appreciatively. Sometimes it really got on her nerves how ugly some of the mechs--even other Gundams!--could be. Obviously they were designed for a different purpose, but they still should have had some kind of style.
